This section contains the release notes for the Kaseya VSA integration with GravityZone.

Version 052024

Release date: 2024.02.28

Important

No Bitdefender.vsaz update required.

New features and improvements

General

  • The list of modules and add-ons available when configuring the agent installation package has been updated to reflect the latest changes in GravityZone.

    Changes include:

    • New add-ons: Mobile Security and Container Protection.

    • New modules: Antiphishing and Traffic Scan under Network Protection, and Container Protection. The latter is visible when the Container Protection add-on is available for the company.

The revised list is available with the Configure and Sync option in Inventory, with the Edit option in Subscription Management, and in the default installation package under Configuration > Agents Synchronization.

Resolved issues

Synchronization

  • The Bitdefender plugin incorrectly generated the Rogue Bitdefender Agent Found event instead of Destination Moved when changing a location that involved company folders.

  • When first creating sub-companies for a Customer company, the Bitdefender plugin did not update its type to Partner.

General

  • Various minor fixes, including revised GUI messages and labels.

Version 302023

Release date: 2023.08.16

Important

No Bitdefender.vsaz update required.

New features and improvements

Configuration

  • You can now choose how to handle the Install Bitdefender Agent event in the Agent Synchronization section of the Configuration page. When selecting automatic action, the plugin installs the Bitdefender security agent according to the Kaseya agent location.

Version 082023

Release date: 2023.03.01

Important

Bitdefender.vsaz update required. Download plugin version 9.5.1.207.

New features and improvements

General

  • Changed the Bitdefender Plugin’s default page from Help and Support to Dashboard.

  • Improved security and performance of agent procedures.

Configuration

  • Users with master or system roles can now take ownership of automatic synchronization tasks by clicking the new Take Task Ownership button on the Configuration page.

  • The Bitdefender Plugin Status widget on the Dashboard page now warns you if the user running the automatic tasks does not have the necessary roles.

  • The Configuration page loads faster for users with access to a large number of agent procedures.

Operation

  • Active users now receive an alert if the automatic tasks fail due to a token refresh issue. In this case, they can either ask the current automatic tasks user to resolve the issue, or take control of the tasks themselves, if they have the required roles.

Resolved issues

General

  • The Detect procedure failed on macOS Ventura endpoints, preventing the Bitdefender security agent from deploying.

  • The Bitdefender Plugin displayed no entities when navigating from a Kaseya VSA page to the Bitdefender Plugin section while having a filter with asterisk (*) wildcard active.

Version 222022

Release date: 2022.06.02

Important

No Bitdefender.vsaz update required.

New features and improvements

Operations

  • The Manage Association option in the Inventory page is now available only to users who have System or Master in their role list.

Version 092022

Release date: 2022.03.16

Important

No Bitdefender.vsaz update required.

New features and improvements

Configuration

  • As part of the integration setup, after entering the GravityZone API key and the API Access URL, the Bitdefender Plugin now provides you the option to create security policies automatically. The Plugin creates these policies in GravityZone according to Bitdefender recommendations, replacing any previous policies with the same name. Read more.

  • A new section in the Configuration page allows you to configure the default Bitdefender deployment package, which will be created as part of automatic processes. You still have the option to configure existing packages for specific companies in the Subscription Management page. You can override the default package template during company creation using the Configure and Sync option in the Inventory page. Read more.

Inventory

  • The Synchronize agents option in the Inventory page now displays a more detailed message regarding the competitor removal option.

Resolved issues

  • Uninstalling the Bitdefender agent on macOS no longer returns the exit code 16026 (not supported).

  • The Bitdefender Plugin will display the “Communication issue” page when there is a communication timeout with Kaseya VSA. Depending on how long it takes for the requests to time out, users will see this message after a few minutes of page loading.

  • Users who access the inventory and do not have proper VSA API rights will immediately receive an error message instead of encountering endless loading.

Version 502021

Release date: 2022.01.27

Important

Bitdefender.vsaz update required. Download plugin version 9.5.1.196.

New features and improvements

  • The Competitor removal option is no longer available in the Synchronize agents menu in the Inventory page. Instead, you can enable Remove Competitor when configuring the installation packages for organizations in the Subscription Management page.

  • The Task Audit page now displays names for previously unknown users, based on the Kaseya rights of the user viewing the page.

  • As part of the deployment flow, endpoints will initially appear in GravityZone in the Computers and Groups folder and then immediately move to their assigned group.

  • We improved loading performance for large inventories.

  • Other internal improvements.

Resolved issues

  • In some cases, endpoints generated Rogue endpoint events instead of Destination moved, and required reinstalling the Bitdefender agent to change their location.

Version 412021

Release date: 2021.10.14

Important

Bitdefender.vsaz update required. Download plugin version 9.5.1.186

New features and improvements

General

  • You can now view the general status of the Bitdefender plugin in the new Dashboard page. Details include relevant messages regarding possible issues with the plugin and information on the total number of agents, last sync, and sync events.

Resolved issues

Deployment Window

  • Information regarding the Deployment Window in the Task Audit page was displayed in UTC instead of user time.

  • The Use Server Time option did not always work as expected when scheduling procedures in Deployment Window.

  • An installation task that required computer reboot would sometimes consume an additional Deployment Window slot.

Version 372021

Release date: 2021.09.15

Note

No Bitdefender.vsaz update required.

Improvements

Operations

The Deployment Window for agent synchronization in the Inventory page has been improved as follows:

  • The Deployment in window option now specifies whether the Bitdefender agent installation is scheduled for server time or local machine time.

  • A new option Deployment in custom window has been added, to allow flexibility when installing the Bitdefender agent on one or multiple machines, on a group or an organization.

You can configure the deployment time, skip deployment, or power up the machine if offline.

These settings are independent from the ones in Configuration > Agents Synchronization and do not require specifying a number of deployment slots. That means you can schedule the deployment whenever you want, on all selected machines, in the same deployment window.

Version 242021

Release date: 2021.08.18

Important

Bitdefender.vsaz update required. Download plugin version 9.5.1.183.

New features

Operations

  • When first synchronizing an organization, you can configure the product type using the Configure and Sync Inventory option in the contextual menu from the Inventory page. To reconfigure a synchronized organization, use the Edit option in the new Subscription Management page.

    Note

After changing the product for a company, you need to run a Reconfigure Client task to deploy the new features on endpoints. The existing product expires in seven days.

  • Easily monitor the status of synchronization tasks running between Kaseya VSA and GravityZone in the new Task Audit page. See the most relevant information such as task type, running time, user, status and the generated events in one single place. If you need more data, click the entries on the page for details that will help you identify any potential problems.

Improvements

Configuration

  • Now you have the option to reduce the amount of Network Attack Defense alerts by ignoring events that probing agents usually generate when using tools like Kaseya VSA Network Discovery and LAN Watch. The new option is available in the alerts configuration window, under the Advanced filtering section.

    Note

While this option may be helpful in some situations, we recommend using it carefully.

Operation

  • When accessing the Inventory, Inventory Sync Events and Agent Sync Events pages, they will display data according to the various filters you have in place on other Kaseya VSA pages (Machine Id, Machine Group etc.).

Version 122021

Release date: 2021.04.13

Important

Bitdefender.vsaz update required. Download plugin version 9.5.1.169

Improvements

General

  • Enhanced security for the communication mechanism between GravityZone and the Bitdefender plugin for Event Push Service API.

Operations

Significant changes to the Policy Assignment Rules section:

  • Improved interface responsiveness when using a large number of rules (100 or more).

  • When accessing the section, the Bitdefender plugin starts a validation and update process that ensures you see the latest information. During this process, rule editing is disabled.

  • You can now set a custom priority number when adding a rule. Specifically, 1 means that the rule will apply first, 2 - the rule will apply second, and so on, depending on how many rules are in the list.

Version 032021

Release date: 2021.02.02

Note

No Bitdefender.vsaz update required

New features and improvements

Configuration

  • New alerts are available in the Configuration page for the following security events:

    • Advanced Anti-Exploit

    • Antiphishing

    • Ransomware Mitigation

    • Network Attack Defense

  • Alert options were expanded to include choosing an agent procedure that will run when the alert is triggered.

Operations

New options in the Manage Association window:

  • When deleting an association, you are able to exclude the corresponding organization from future inventory synchronization.

  • You can now define and edit custom associations with existing GravityZone companies. If you have just migrated to Kaseya VSA, this option allows you to keep your GravityZone inventory in place while associating it with the VSA one.

Version 462020

Release date: 2020.11.26

Note

No Bitdefender.vsaz update required

New features and improvements

Configuration

  • Setup Downloader replaces Full Kit as the default option in the Agents Synchronization section.

  • You now receive validation messages when trying to change the GravityZone API Key.

Operations

  • In certain conditions, moving endpoints between companies no longer implies agent uninstall and reinstall. Instead of generating a Rogue Bitdefender Agent Found event, the Bitdefender plugin reports these situations as Destination Moved and allows seamless handling. For details, refer to Kaseya VSA integration guide.

Resolved issues

Configuration

  • In some cases, clicking Save without making any changes in the Change API Key window returned errors.

  • Fixed an issue that caused the Alerts section to expand and contract differently than the rest of the sections in the Configuration page.

Operations

  • The Inventory page did not display item names correctly when containing quote characters (").

Version 402020

New features and improvements

Operations

  • You can now easily control what security policies are applied to the inventory, from the new Policy Assignment Rules page. Create rules by specifying organization, view, policy and priority, and the Bitdefender plugin will enforce them as part of the automatic agent synchronization.

  • This release comes with various UI improvements:

    • Mandatory fields are more prominent.

    • More consistent interface texts.

    • Unified style for buttons and icons.

Version 392020

    • Network Protection with Content Control and Network Attack Defense

This selection represents, from the security point of view, the minimum configuration recommended for installation.

  • To take full advantage of the Bitdefender Plugin, you need to have Licensing API enabled in the My Account > API keys section of GravityZone Control Center.

  • Starting with this version we have removed dependency on TLS 1.0 and 1.1 protocols. The Bitdefender Plugin now accepts and initiates only TLS 1.2 (and above) connections.

Version 272020

Release date: 2020.07.16

Minimum plugin version: 9.5.1.160 (update required)

Tip

Download the plugin from here.

New features and improvements

Configuration

  • You can now create and edit alerts for the Antimalware and Advanced Threat Control events in the Configuration page. A series of actions are available with each alert: create alarms, open tickets, send emails, and show notifications to specified users.

Operations

  • Some columns have been changed or renamed in the Agent Sync Events page to help you easier understand which agents are involved in certain events:

    • Kaseya Agent is the new name of the previous Machine Id column.

    • Bitdefender Agent replaces the Agent GUID column and displays the Bitdefender agent name as in GravityZone. Clicking an entry will present you details such as name, location, version, and malware status.

  • You will receive a new explicit error message when trying to start on-demand tasks without first entering the GravityZone API details in the Configuration page.

  • Other minor UX improvements.

Resolved issues

Operations

  • Sometimes, the Rogue Bitdefender agent found event failed to generate when the agent locations in Kaseya and GravityZone no longer matched.

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Inventory page from loading if it contained organizations with names ending in quotation marks.

Version 182020

Release date: 2020.04.28

Minimum plugin version: 9.5.1.142 (update required)

Tip

Download the plugin from here.

New features and improvements

Configuration

  • The automatic sync of both inventory and agents has now three levels to choose from:

    • Monitor & report synchronized inventory/agent status to run only on associated and non-excluded entities. This sync level is the default state and it only generates events. Event handling is not performed regardless of any Automatic handling settings.

    • Monitor & handle synchronized inventory/agent status to run only on associated and non-excluded entities. This sync level generates events and performs event handling according to your settings.

    • Automatic inventory/agent synchronization to run on the entire inventory, generating events and performing event handling according to your settings.

  • You can now configure a prefix for creating new organizations to only handle name conflicts.

  • New API validation messages for scenarios including an insufficient number of enabled APIs and keys generated for customer company accounts. The plugin no longer accepts API keys generated for customer companies.

Operations

  • Now you can view company details and delete existing associations between the organizations in Kaseya VSA and the companies in GravityZone. To manage associations, go to Operations > Inventory, right-click an entity and select Manage Associations.

  • Added text truncation for company names longer than 64 characters.

Usability

  • Filtering, sorting and pagination are now available in the Inventory Sync Events page.

  • The View filter in the Inventory page now includes a search option.

Resolved issues
