Here you can find information about installing Mesh and its different flavours.
Mesh Unified (MX based and API based)
Mesh Unified can only be installed for customers on Microsoft 365.
Mesh Gateway (MX based)
Mesh Gateway can be installed for customers on any email platform as long as their mx records can be pointed to Mesh.
Mesh 365 (API based)
Mesh 365 can only be installed for customers on Microsoft 365.
