Access Extended Email Security consoles of companies you manage
As a Distributor or higher-level Partner in GravityZone, you can access the Extended Email Security (EES) console of eligible Partner companies below you in the GravityZone company hierarchy. This allows you to help manage email security for these Partners and their customers.
You do not need Extended Email Security provisioned for your own company to access a downstream Partner's EES console.
How access works
Access is controlled separately by GravityZone and Extended Email Security:
Control | What it determines |
Management from above in GravityZone | Which companies you can access |
EES permissions | What you can do within the companies you can access |
GravityZone determines the companies available to you based on the company hierarchy and their management settings. EES permissions apply only within this scope and cannot grant access to additional companies.
For example, receiving the Team Management permission in a Partner's EES console does not give you access to one of their customers if that customer does not allow management from above.
Access does not depend on whether your company and the downstream Partner use the same license key.
Requirements
To access a downstream Partner's EES console, the following requirements apply:
Your company must be above the Partner company in the GravityZone company hierarchy.
The downstream Partner must have Your Bitdefender partner can assist you with security management enabled.
The downstream Partner must have an active Extended Email Security account.
Your GravityZone user must have the required permissions to manage the downstream company.
You must use Login using GravityZone Identity Provider to access Extended Email Security.
Note
A Distributor or higher-level Partner does not need Extended Email Security provisioned for their own company.
Access a downstream Partner's EES console
To access Extended Email Security for a Partner company:
Sign in to GravityZone.
Go to the Extended Email Security page.
Find the Partner company you want to manage.
Click Open console.
If required, switch your login method to Login using GravityZone Identity Provider and confirm the change.
Sign in again if prompted.
The Partner's Extended Email Security console opens in a new browser tab.
Note
Changing your login method to Login using GravityZone Identity Provider also applies to future GravityZone sign-ins.
First-time access
The first time you access an eligible Partner's EES console, Extended Email Security automatically creates a user for you in that Partner's environment.
Your user receives the default Analytics permission.
An authorized user of the Partner company can grant you additional EES permissions if you need access to other functionality.
Grant additional permissions to a higher-level Partner user
When a user from a Distributor or higher-level Partner accesses your EES console for the first time, the user is created with the Analytics permission.
If you are authorized to manage EES users, you can grant the higher-level user additional permissions, such as:
Live Email Tracker
Customers: Manage
Team Management
To change the user's permissions:
Sign in to the Extended Email Security console.
Go to the Team management area.
Select the higher-level Partner user.
Select the permissions you want to grant.
Save your changes.
Additional EES permissions determine what the user can do in your EES environment. They do not extend the user's access to additional companies.
Access customers below the Partner
Access restrictions also apply to customers managed by the Partner.
If a customer has Your Bitdefender partner can assist you with security management disabled, a higher-level Partner or Distributor cannot access that customer from the Partner's EES console.
Granting the higher-level user additional EES permissions does not override this restriction.
Consider a GravityZone hierarchy consisting of a Distributor, a Partner, and a Customer.
If the Partner allows management from above, the Distributor can access the Partner's EES console.
If the Customer does not allow management from above, the Distributor cannot access that Customer, even if the Distributor has additional permissions in the Partner's EES console.
When a company is not available
A company may not be available for Extended Email Security console access in the following situations:
Situation | Result |
The company does not allow management from above. | You cannot access its EES environment. |
The company does not use Extended Email Security. | Open console is not available. |
The company's EES account is suspended. | Open console is not available. |
Your GravityZone user does not have the required permissions. | You cannot access the company's EES environment. |
You do not use Login using GravityZone Identity Provider. | You must switch your login method before accessing the EES console. |
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Extended Email Security for my own company?
No. Distributors and higher-level Partners can access eligible downstream Partner consoles without provisioning Extended Email Security for their own company.
Can I grant myself additional EES permissions?
No. An authorized user of the downstream Partner company must grant you additional permissions.
If a Partner grants me additional permissions, can I access all their customers?
No. GravityZone determines which companies you can access. EES permissions determine what you can do within those companies.
If a customer does not allow management from above, additional EES permissions do not give you access to that customer.
What happens if a company disables management from above?
The company is no longer available to higher-level Partners and Distributors for EES console access.
