How to Connect to VPN in Bitdefender Hub (Android)

Bitdefender VPN helps protect your internet traffic by creating a secure connection between your Android device and the internet. When the VPN is connected, your activity is routed through an encrypted tunnel, which can help keep your data private, especially when you are using public Wi-Fi networks such as those in airports, cafés, hotels, or shopping centers.

In the Bitdefender Hub app for Android, there are three different ways to connect to VPN. You can connect directly from the Android home screen shortcut, from the Bitdefender app Home screen, or from the Services area inside the app. Each method leads to the same result, so you can use whichever option feels most convenient.

How to Connect to VPN on Android

Method 1: Connect to VPN from the Android home screen

The fastest way to connect is by using the app shortcut on your Android home screen. This option is useful when you want to turn on VPN without first opening the Bitdefender app.

On your Android home screen, touch and hold the Bitdefender Hub app icon until a small shortcut menu appears. In this menu, you may see several options, such as App info, Pause app, Connect VPN, and Scan device.
Tap Connect VPN.
Bitdefender Hub will then open and automatically connect to the nearest VPN server location.

This is a quick-access shortcut designed for common actions, so it is ideal when you already know that you want to connect to VPN immediately.

Method 2: Connect to VPN from the Bitdefender Home screen

You can also connect to VPN from the main screen of the Bitdefender Hub app. This is a good option if you have just opened the app and want to use one of the recommended protection actions.

Open Bitdefender Hub on your Android device. By default, the app opens to the Home screen. Here you can view your current security status along with several recommended actions.
On the Home screen, tap the card labeled Connect to VPN.
Bitdefender Hub immediately connects to the nearest VPN server. After the connection is established, your internet activity is routed through the VPN server automatically.

This option is beginner-friendly because the VPN option is presented as a clear action directly on the main dashboard.

Method 3: Connect to VPN from the Services menu

The third method allows you to connect to VPN through the dedicated Services menu of the Bitdefender Hub app. This approach is helpful when you want to explore all available Bitdefender features or manage VPN settings in more detail.

Open the Bitdefender Hub app and tap Services from the bottom navigation bar. The Services screen organizes Bitdefender features into categories such as Security, VPN, and SecurePass.
Scroll down to the VPN section and tap Virtual Private Network. This opens the VPN interface, where you can see the current connection status.
If the VPN is disconnected, the screen will display Not connected. To start the VPN, tap the large blue power button ⏻ displayed on the right side of the screen. After a few moments, the VPN connection will become active and your internet traffic will be secured.

By default, Bitdefender automatically connects to the nearest server location based on your region.

If VPN Premium is included in your subscription, you can also use the Locations button to connect to a different virtual location.

After the VPN connection is active, this section also displays additional information such as your connection time, server location, and IP protection status.

How to Disconnect from VPN

Disconnecting from Bitdefender VPN works the same way as connecting. You can disconnect from any of the three locations described earlier in this guide.

Once the VPN connection is active, the Connect to VPN option or Connect button changes to Disconnect VPN.
