How to Reset Your Bitdefender SecurePass Master Password

Follow these steps to reset your master password in the Bitdefender SecurePass browser extension or the SecurePass web client.

Step 1. Open Bitdefender SecurePass

1. Open the Bitdefender SecurePass browser extension or go to https://securepass.bitdefender.com/.
2. If prompted, log in with your Bitdefender account email and password.
3. On the vault unlock screen, click the Lost password? option.
4. The master password recovery page will open.

Step 2. Enter your recovery key

1. In the Recovery key field, paste or type the recovery key you saved during the initial setup of Bitdefender SecurePass.
2. If needed, click the eye icon to verify the key you’ve entered.
3. Click the Continue button.
4. If the recovery key is correct, you’ll be taken to the master password setup page.

Step 3. Create a new master password

1. Set a new master password that meets the following criteria:
   • Minimum of 10 characters
   • At least one lowercase or uppercase letter
   • At least one number or symbol
2. Re-enter the same password in the confirmation field.
3. Click the Save & Continue button.

Tip:  Choose a strong, unique master password that you haven’t used for any other account. Since this password protects your encrypted vault, it should be easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess.

Step 4. Back up your new recovery key

After you set a new master password, Bitdefender SecurePass generates a new recovery key. Your previous recovery key is no longer valid.

1. Save the newly generated recovery key by choosing one of the available options:
   • Copy to clipboard and store it in a secure location, or
   • Download as PDF file to save a copy of the key
2. After you’ve backed up the recovery key, click Access your vault.
3. When prompted to confirm that you have saved the recovery key, click I understand.
4. You will then be taken to your SecurePass vault.

Important: Store your new recovery key in a secure location. You’ll need it if you ever have to reset your master password again.

Your master password is now reset, and you can use it to unlock your SecurePass vault.

Follow these steps to reset your master password in the Bitdefender SecurePass mobile app.

Step 1. Open SecurePass app

1. Open the Bitdefender SecurePass app.
2. On the vault unlock screen, tap the Lost password? option.
3. The master password recovery screen will appear.

Step 2. Enter your recovery key

1. Enter or paste your recovery key into the corresponding field.
2. Tap Continue.
3. If the recovery key is correct, you’ll be prompted to create a new master password.

Step 3. Create a new master password

1. Set a new master password that meets the following criteria:
   • Minimum of 10 characters
   • At least one lowercase or uppercase letter
   • At least one number or symbol
2. Re-enter the same password in the confirmation field.
3. Then tap the Save Master Password button.

Step 4. Back up your new recovery key

After you set a new master password, Bitdefender SecurePass generates a new recovery key. Your previous recovery key is no longer valid.

1. Save the newly generated recovery key by tapping one of the available options:
   • Copy Recovery Key to clipboard to store it securely elsewhere, or
   • Download as PDF file to save a copy of the key on your device.
2. Tap Continue.
3. When prompted to confirm that you’ve saved the recovery key, tap Yes, continue.           
4. Your SecurePass vault will then open.

Important: Keep your new recovery key in a secure location. You’ll need it if you ever have to reset your master password again.

Your master password is now reset, and you can use it to unlock your SecurePass vault.
