Keeping your Bitdefender app up to date is essential for maintaining strong protection against the latest cyber threats. Updates deliver the newest security patches, performance improvements, bug fixes, feature enhancements, and updated malware definitions. By default, the Bitdefender App for Windows and macOS automatically checks for updates every hour after your computer starts. You can also manually check for updates at any time to ensure you are running the latest version.
Follow the steps below to manually update the Bitdefender App for Windows or macOS.
1. Open the Bitdefender App
Open the Bitdefender App installed on your Windows or Mac computer.
- On Windows: Double-click the Bitdefender shortcut on your desktop
or open it from the Start menu. - On macOS: Click the Bitdefender “B” icon in the menu bar at the top-right of your screen.
2. Access Account & Settings
- Click the profile icon located in the top-right corner of the Bitdefender interface.
3. Open the About section
- In the Account & Settings menu on the left, scroll down and click About.
- This section displays information about your current Bitdefender version.
4. Update Bitdefender App
- Click the Check for update button to start the update process.
5. Wait for the Update to Complete
- A new window will appear showing the update progress (percentage) and the current build version of the components included in your subscription (e.g. Security, VPN).
- Wait until the progress reaches 100%.
6. Finish the Update
- Once the Bitdefender update is complete, you will see one of the following messages:
- Update completed → Click Done or close the Bitdefender update window.
