How to Change the Language in Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac

The interface of Bitdefender apps is typically displayed in the language used by your Mac. By default, macOS uses the language associated with the region where your Mac was purchased, but you can change it to any language supported by macOS. Changing your Mac’s system language automatically changes the language of installed Bitdefender applications.

Starting with macOS Catalina (10.15), you can also change the language of an individual app without changing your Mac’s system language. For example, you can use Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac in French and Bitdefender VPN in German while keeping English as your Mac’s system language. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to change the display language for a Bitdefender app on your Mac. Follow the instructions for your version of macOS:

These steps apply to Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac, Bitdefender VPN, Bitdefender Virus Scanner, and Bitdefender Virus Scanner Plus.

Change Bitdefender apps' language on macOS Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey

1. Click on the Apple logo  in the top-left corner of the screen and select “System Preferences” in the menu.

2. When the “System Preferences” window opens, click on “Language & Region”.

3. In the “Language & Region” window, head to the “Apps” tab and then click the + button in the bottom left corner.

4. Select the Bitdefender application & preferred language using the corresponding drop-down menus and click “Add”.

ⓘ Note: The Language menu displays only supported languages. If a particular language is not on the list, it means that the Bitdefender app does not have support for that language.

5. If Bitdefender is in use, you will be prompted to exit and reopen the application. Press the “Relaunch” button.

6. Finally, restart your Mac for the language changes to take effect on Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac and Bitdefender Virus Scanner Plus. Your Bitdefender app will use the new language the next time you open it.

2. When the new window opens, select “General” on the sidebar, then click on “Language & Region” on the right.

3. In the “Language & Region” window, scroll all the way down and then click the + button in the “Applications” area.

4. Select the Bitdefender application & preferred language using the corresponding drop-down menus and click “Add”.

5. If Bitdefender is in use, you will be prompted to exit and reopen the application. Press the “Relaunch” button.
