What to do if Dark Web Monitoring finds a Data Breach | NETGEAR Armor

1. Open the NETGEAR Armor app on your iOS or Android device.
2. Tap Services at the bottom of the screen.
3. Select Identity Protection.
4. Open the Dark Web Monitoring tab.
5. Review your Dark Web Monitoring status:
   • If data breaches are detected, a digital identity score is displayed. See Step 2 of this guide to learn how to address the detected breaches.
   • If there are no data leaks of your email addresses, phone numbers, or name you are monitoring, the No data breach found message is displayed. No action is required. NETGEAR Armor will continue monitoring for new breaches and notify you if one is detected.

1. If Dark Web Monitoring detects breaches involving your personal information, scroll through the list or search for a specific breach.

2. If there are many data breaches, you can tap the filter icon to sort breaches by:

• Risk type
• Status
• Breach type
• Time

Prioritize high-risk breaches and any breach involving passwords or other credentials.

3. Tap the Take action button on each data breach to learn more.

4. Breach details include the following:

• when the breach was reported
• the company or service involved
• the risk level
• a description of what happened
• exposed personal information

ⓘ The information exposed varies from one breach to another. For example, a breach may contain an email address, username, password, name, phone number, location information, or other data associated with your account.

5. Follow each recommendation shown in the app. Depending on the information exposed in that particular breach, you may be advised to:

• Change your password. Set a strong, unique password for the affected account. If you reused the exposed password on other accounts, change it there as well.
• Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). Add an additional layer of security to the affected account when this option is available.
• Delete your account. Delete the account created on the breached site associated with your email address.

6. After completing an action, return to NETGEAR Armor and tap Mark as done where available.

Important! NETGEAR Armor cannot change a password or security setting on another company’s website for you. Complete the recommended action directly with the service or account affected by the breach.

NETGEAR Armor uses the Identity Protection Score to help you understand the strength of your privacy and security posture.

1. When there are unresolved security events, you will see an Increase your score option on the Dark Web Monitoring tab.
2. Tap it to review events that require attention and complete the recommended actions.

Your score improves as you address recommendations, but the maximum score available depends on the information that has already been exposed.

Previously leaked information cannot be removed from a historical data breach by NETGEAR Armor.
