If uninstalling is required, the proper way to do it would be to use the dedicated uninstall tool available here....

...and reinstall (using the uninstall tool, and manually looking for any leftover hidden folders).

There's an important mention here, to restore settings for a subsequent reinstall, the user must select Reinstall and not Uninstall....

When i try to uninstall bitdefender Total Security I get error "you do not have sufficient access to uninstall..."....

Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't always install the latest version, unless it's been a week or two since it's initial release, in which the installer will download and install the current version....
