I did uninstall Bitdefender and associated files and folders as suggested. I once again, reinstalled BitD and the installation looked a little more normal than the last time. Install was successful....

...I have gone to GravityZone and have chosen to uninstall agent, but from what I have read it needs internet access. Is there another way to go about this?
