This is what I normally do: 1) Windows Control Panel Uninstall, 2) Reboot, 3) BD Removal Tool, 4) Reboot, 5) CCleaner, 6) Reboot, 7) CCleaner again....

First, use the uninstall tool from here, run the tool corresponding to your Bitdefender version, and follow the on-screen instructions. Restart your computer once the tool completes its process....

...Doesn't really matter much any more since the uninstall/reinstall made the error go away. But in case I see it again in the future exactly what is "error -2023" complaining about?...

Hi @Alexandru_BD I reinstalled bitdefender total security and ran a systemscan, now it shows 933 password protected files again.

Then using Finder go under "Applications" and in the "Bitdefender" folder run "BitdefenderUninstaller", select "Uninstall VPN Only", then press the [Uninstall] blue button....

...He told me, unhelpfully, to uninstall Bitdefender and then to reinstall it....
