Release notes

August 2025

New features

Multi-tenant hierarchies

Both yearly Partners and MSPs can now establish multi-level hierarchies by creating other Partners beneath them. At each level of the hierarchy, Partners can also have multiple Customers. Each company in the hierarchy can view and manage all of its subordinate companies.

Yearly Customers self-onboarding

Customers can now activate their Bitdefender MDR or Bitdefender MDR Plus license in GravityZone Control Center. During self-onboarding, they are required to provide MDR contact information, which automatically creates an emergency contact in the MDR portal.

For more information, refer to the Contact details for MDR > Customer with a yearly MDR license and License usage details > Yearly > Adding a product sections of the Manage your company page.

Assigning MDR licenses to Customers

Partners are now required to configure an emergency contact when assigning MDR or MDR Plus licenses during the creation or modification of a Customer company in GravityZone Control Center. This contact can be a verified MDR Partner contact from the customer’s hierarchy, an existing GravityZone user, or custom contact information, verified via email.

Important

  • For more information on assigning an MDR license during the creation of a Customer, refer to the License section of the Licensing page.

  • For more information on assigning an MDR license during the modification of a Customer, refer to the Contact details for MDR > Editing a Customer with a yearly MDR license and License usage details > Yearly > Adding a product sections of the Editing companies page.

Yearly Partners enrollment and MDR portal access

Yearly Partners can now enroll themselves or other Partners within their hierarchy in the MDR service by providing an emergency contact. The contact can be an existing user account within the company or custom contact info, verified via email. This contact is automatically inherited by child companies in the hierarchy.

The enrollment allows Partners to access the MDR portal, where they can manage their customers with MDR licenses, as long as those customers have delegated security management permissions to the Partner.

Important

  • Yearly MDR licenses are restricted to Customer companies; Partner accounts are not compatible with them.

  • For more information on yearly Partners self-enrollment, refer to the Contact details for MDR > Yearly Partner section from the Manage your company page.

  • For more information on enrolling in the MDR service other yearly subordinate Partners, refer to the Contact details for MDR > Editing a yearly Partner section from the Editing companies page.

Hybrid Partners

MSPs can now have inventories with both yearly and monthly Customer companies. The MDR portal pages display aggregated information from both types of Customers.

Emergency Contacts

The MDR portal’s Emergency Contacts page now displays the contact created in GravityZone via the Contact details for MDR form and any contacts inherited from parent companies.

The contact created in GravityZone displays the label From GravityZone, and those inherited from parent companies display Inherited from parent. Contacts created in GravityZone or inherited from parent companies cannot be edited, reordered, or deleted in the MDR portal. Any updates must be made in GravityZone Control Center.

MDR service page in GravityZone Control Center

The MDR service page has been added to GravityZone Control Center. It displays the MDR enrollment status, entitlement period, and service model for each company. Customers can view information related to their company, while Partners have visibility across all managed companies.

The page also includes an Open console button that allows direct access to the MDR portal.

Important

  • For more information regarding the Partners' MDR service page, refer to MDR service.

  • For more information regarding the Customers' MDR service page, refer to MDR service.

MDR Security Telemetry exclusions page in GravityZone Control Center

A new MDR Security Telemetry exclusions page is now available in GravityZone Control Center under MDR service. It displays the exclusion rules configured by Bitdefender MDR and applied to the security events selected in the endpoint policy under Agent > Security Telemetry.

Remote Shell in MDR licenses

Remote Shell is now included in the Bitdefender MDR and Bitdefender MDR Plus licenses. The feature is enabled by default on the Pre-Approved Actions page and cannot be disabled.

Warning

Following this update, the Remote Shell license is no longer compatible with MDR licenses.

If your company has both an active MDR license and a Remote Shell license, you will need to remove the Remote Shell license from My company > Licensing before updating your company details.

In the future, Bitdefender may automatically remove the Remote Shell license on your behalf, without prior notification.

Improvements

Time zone

All pages displaying time-based information now also show the time zone at the top of the screen, in the format UTC +/- [time difference].

Note

All times in the MDR Monthly Report are specified in UTC.

Pre-Approved Actions

For Bitdefender MDR and MDR Foundations users, all the MDR actions are enabled by default, but can be disabled upon request.

New features

  • Notification profiles

You can now create notification profiles to define how Bitdefender MDR will notify your intended recipients. The email alerts concern essential MDR activities related to your company or the ones you manage.

    Key improvements include:

    • Multiple profiles per company: Create several notification profiles for the same company to tailor notifications for different recipient groups.

    • Multi-company support: If you manage multiple companies, you can configure distinct notification profiles for each.

    • Granular filtering: Filter Recommendation notifications by minimum priority level and Investigation notifications by minimum severity level.

    • Configurable email details: The option to add details to notification emails is now available for better review efficiency.

The bell icon in the top right of the MDR Portal now exclusively highlights the new Notification profiles page in the left-side menu. For more information on this page, refer to Notification profiles.

    Important

    • You cannot configure the customer verification request notification mechanism anymore. All MDR Admins will automatically receive email alerts for verification requests.

    • Your previous notification settings have been automatically converted into a default notification profile for your company, with the following defaults:

      • Minimum priority for receiving Recommendation notifications: Medium.

      • Minimum severity for Investigation notifications: Medium.
