End of support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010
Microsoft ended mainstream support for Exchange Server 2010 on January 13, 2015, and extended support until October 13, 2020. As this version no longer receives security updates or technical support from Microsoft, it presents increased operational and security risks.
In alignment with Microsoft’s lifecycle policy, Bitdefender Exchange Protection, part of Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools (BEST), will discontinue support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010.
End of support date
Effective April 30, 2026, Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 will no longer be supported by Bitdefender Exchange Protection.
Starting with product version 8.26.5 and later, Exchange 2010 will no longer be supported.
Product upgrade behavior
On systems where Microsoft Exchange 2010 is detected:
Upgrade to version 8.26.5 or later will be automatically blocked.
The upgrade process will fail with error code -2021
This safeguard is implemented to prevent potential compatibility issues that could impact email flow.
Install or repair behavior
Beginning with version 8.26.5:
Install or repair operations will no longer install the Exchange Protection module for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010.
Exchange 2010 will no longer be recognized as a supported mail platform.
Security content updates
Security content updates (including antivirus and antispam signatures) will continue to be delivered.
Required Action
Customers currently using Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 must upgrade to a supported version of Microsoft Exchange Server before April 30, 2026.
Compatible Microsoft Exchange versions include:
Exchange Server 2013 (Service Pack 1, with required Microsoft updates)
Exchange Server 2016
Exchange Server 2019
Please note that Microsoft has ended support for Exchange Server 2013. For long-term security and stability, upgrading to Exchange Server 2016 or 2019 is strongly recommended.
Failure to migrate before April 30, 2026 will prevent upgrading to Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools version 8.26.5 or later.
