Collecting logs for Bitdefender related issues on Unix/Linux

This section guides you through log collecting, which are necessary for the Bitdefender Enterprise Support Team to troubleshoot the problems you are experiencing with several Bitdefender solutions on Linux systems.

Due to the high number of possible hardware and software configurations, users may run into various faulty situations. To be able to properly identify the causes for these reported situations, the technical support team needs some pieces of information regarding the operating system and Bitdefender's presence on the respective computer.

This information applies to the following Bitdefender products: Bitdefender Security for Mail Servers, Bitdefender Security for Samba, Bitdefender Antivirus Scanner for Unices.

To gather the information needed, follow these steps:

  1. Save the archive containing the script to your server:

    • From Terminal:

      wget https://download.bitdefender.com/business/tools/BDSysLogSecurityforMailServers/bdsysinfo.sh

    • From GUI: click Download and choose Save or Save as...

  2. Go to the destination directory.

  3. Extract the script file from the archive.

  4. Execute the script as root:

    #sh bdsysinfo.sh

    or

    $sudo sh bdsysinfo.sh

The script will start gathering information and display its progress. The report will be saved as an archive called bdsysinfo.tar.gz.

When contacting the technical support team, please have the above mentioned report at hand, an accurate description of the issue and the error message (if any).
