Transaction Expands Bitdefender’s Unified Security and Risk Platform with Advanced Email Threat Protection, Strengthening XDR and MDR Capabilities for Businesses and MSPs

BUCHAREST, Romania and SAN ANTONIO, TX – Bitdefender, a global cybersecurity leader, today announced it has completed its acquisition of Mesh Security Limited (Mesh), a provider of advanced email security solutions. The acquisition strengthens the Bitdefender GravityZone unified security and risk analytics platform with native email protection and enhances its Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service offerings for business customers and managed service providers (MSPs) worldwide. Additionally, Bitdefender will also continue to offer Mesh email security as a separate, standalone offering.

Email remains the most targeted attack vector in cybersecurity—frequently exploited for phishing, ransomware delivery, and business email compromise (BEC). According to the newly released global 2025 Bitdefender Cybersecurity Assessment Report, 66% of 1,200 security professionals surveyed say they’ve seen an increase in BEC attacks over the past year, underscoring the urgent need for advanced email protection.

“As threat actors continue to rely on email as a primary attack vector, organizations need stronger, more integrated defenses that reduce risk without adding complexity,” said Andrei Florescu, president and general manager of Bitdefender Business Solutions Group. “We’re excited to welcome Mesh to the Bitdefender team. Their proven innovation in email security and deep MSP expertise makes them an excellent strategic fit. Together, we’re expanding our ability to stop email-borne threats and strengthen protection for our customers around the world.”

Mesh employs a dual-layered approach to email security that delivers both perimeter-based protection through a secure email gateway (SEG) and mailbox-level detection via API-based deployment. This architecture enhances visibility across attack surfaces and contributes high-fidelity telemetry to Bitdefender’s global threat intelligence network. The Mesh solution also streamlines management for MSPs through its centralized, multi-tenant interface, enabling scalable, efficient delivery of always-on protection.

The integration of Mesh’s technology into GravityZone expands Bitdefender’s ability to provide customers with multi-layered, contextual email threat protection that adapts to increasingly sophisticated attack tactics. It also supports the Bitdefender global ecosystem of more than 41,000 channel and MSP partners, who rely on the company’s solutions to deliver trusted cybersecurity outcomes to businesses of all sizes.

“This milestone opens the door to even greater impact for our customers,” said Brian Byrne, co-founder and CEO of Mesh. “Bitdefender shares our belief in building effective, accessible security and supporting customers throughout their journey, and we’re excited to expand that mission together.”

Founded in 2020 and backed by investors Elkstone and Enterprise Ireland, Mesh has established itself as a trusted email security provider for hundreds of MSP partners and thousands of end customers globally. Known for its detection efficacy, MSP-centric architecture, and operational simplicity, Mesh has earned recognition for addressing the unique challenges of email-based threats with precision and ease of use.
