New viruses and spyware are found and identified every day. This is why it is very important to keep Bitdefender up to date with the latest signatures. By default, Bitdefender automatically checks for updates every hour.

Updates can be grouped into two main categories:

• Signature updates keep up to date the program's database of known malware. This enables Bitdefender to protect your computer and data against the latest threats discovered. Signature updates may also include new spam signatures to improve antispam protection.
  
• Product updates add various improvements to the program, including new features and scan techniques.
