Bitdefender wins new VBSpam+ award, marking more than four years of steady wins

Bitdefender, creator of innovative antivirus software solutions, won another VBSpam+ Award for outstanding spam detection, marking its software the most awarded in the history of anti-spam testing by independent analysis firm Virus Bulletin.

“As the only product that has participated in every VBSpam test and achieved a VBSpam award on every occasion, Bitdefender has good reason to be proud of its VBSpam test record,” Virus Bulletin wrote in announcing its May awards. “But it is not just quantity in which the Linux-based product stands out: it has regularly found itself ranked among the better performers in the tests.”

In the May round of tests, Bitdefender Security for Mail Servers 3.1.2 caught 99.89 percent of all spam and registered zero false positives, meaning it sent no legitimate e-mail to the spam folder. The result also marked a slight improvement from Bitdefender’s own performance in March tests, when it caught 99.81 percent of all spam, with no false positives.

“The VBSpam+ awards are really the result of years of hard work,” said Carmen Mitrica, head of the Bitdefender Antispam Labs. “Year after year, we’ve been focused on steady improvement – always beating our latest performance. It’s extremely gratifying to see that work recognized.”

Bitdefender Security for Mail Servers 3.1.2 protects Windows and UNIX-based mail servers from viruses, spyware, spam and phishing with proactive content and attachment filtering technologies. The solution secures organizations’ e-mail services, boosts productivity by blockingspam and provides common centralized management tools.
