Effective date: 30th September 2026
Bitdefender is gradually updating the Account Privacy experience in Bitdefender Mobile Security. As part of this update, Account Privacy will become Dark Web Checker. The change is designed to improve the quality and functionality of the service while keeping the core protection you use today.
What is changing?
From 30th September 2026, Account Privacy will no longer appear as a separate feature. Instead, you will use Dark Web Checker to monitor your verified email addresses for information connected with known data breaches.
Dark Web Checker will continue to:
- Check up to 10 verified email addresses.
- Alert you when an email address is associated with a known data breach.
- Provide recommended actions for each identified breach.
Why are you replacing Account Privacy with Dark Web Checker?
Dark Web Checker uses Constella, Bitdefender’s breach-intelligence provider. Constella’s intelligence helps improve the overall quality of the breach-monitoring service and the guidance you receive when a breach is identified.
This is a gradual update to the Account Privacy feature in iOS and Android, not a decrease in the level of protection. Your existing monitoring will move to the new experience automatically, with the same number of email addresses available to check.
What happens to my email addresses?
Any email addresses you have already verified in Account Privacy will be transferred automatically to Dark Web Checker on 30th September 2026. They will then be checked through Constella as part of the Dark Web Checker service.
You do not need to do anything to continue using the feature.
If you do not want a particular email address to be transferred, remove it from Account Privacy before 30th September 2026.
Does this affect my Bitdefender subscription or price?
No. The migration to Dark Web Checker does not change your Bitdefender subscription, its price, or the limit of up to 10 email addresses that you can check.
How is my data processed?
After the transition, checks are performed using Constella. For details, see:
