System Requirements for Security for Virtualized Environments

Security for Virtualized Environments (SVE) is the first comprehensive security solution for virtualized datacenters. SVE protects not only Windows servers and end-user systems, but also Linux and Solaris systems. Integrated with VMware vShield and VMware vCenter, its unique architecture also allows it to defend systems running on any system virtualization technology.

Preparing your machines for Installation

Before you begin installing Bitdefender, follow these steps in order to ensure a successful installation:

•   Make sure all required VMware components have been installed.
•   Remove any existing security software from the virtual machines.

For the installation you will need:

•  The OVA template containing Security Console.
•  Silent Agent installation kits (available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions).

Product Requirements

Security for Virtualized Environments is delivered within a Security Virtual Appliance running on a hardened Linux Server distribution (2.6 kernel) and is managed by Security Console.

VMware Requirements

Security for Virtualized Environments supports VMware vSphere 4.1 P3 (433742 -

Patch #3) or 5.0 P1 (474610 - Patch#1) (incl. ESXi 4.1, resp. ESXi 5.0) with:

•  vCenter Server 5.0
•  vShield Manager 5.0
•  vShield Endpoint installed by vShield Manager on the host/hosts protected by Security for Virtualized Environments
• VMware Tools 8.6.0 build 446312 installed on the protected virtual machines in the complete mode or with the vShield Endpoint driver selected under VMCI in custom mode.  

Security Console Requirements

Security Console can be accessed from the following web browsers:

•  Internet Explorer 8 or higher
•  Mozilla Firefox 4 or higher

Installing Security for Virtualized Environments by Bitdefender:

•  Google Chrome 8 or higher

Security for Virtualized Environments currently protects the following operating systems:

•  Windows XP SP3 (32 bit)
•  Windows Vista (32 bit)
•  Windows 7 (32/64 bit)
