Security for Virtualized Environments (SVE) is the first comprehensive security solution for virtualized datacenters. SVE protects not only Windows servers and end-user systems, but also Linux and Solaris systems. Integrated with VMware vShield and VMware vCenter, its unique architecture also allows it to defend systems running on any system virtualization technology. When installed in VMware environments, SVE takes advantage of vShield Endpoint. However, SVE is not dependent on the virtualization technology; it protects environments that are powered by any virtualization technology.

In order to verify if the scanning is working inside the Bitdefender Security Virtual Appliance, check the following:

        a.  Check if the Bitdefender Product License is valid. In order to verify this requirement, you will need to:

• Open Bitdefender Security Console and go to the Setup page
• Check if  the Status of the License field  is “Valid”. 

             Note: Make sure that  Bitdefender Security Console machine has an Internet connection available for signature & product updates and license validation. If, however, you have an internet connection and your License field states "Invalid", contact Bitdefender Sales Representative.

        b.  Check if the Bitdefender Real-Time Scanning policy is On or has an Ignore action set. In case of a missing custom real-time scanning policy, the default real-time scanning policy will apply (Real-Time protection is on with Disinfect action set).

        c.  Check if the Bitdefender VSM was succesfully deployed on the host that manages the affected VM. In order to check this requirement, you will need to:

• Open the Bitdefender Security Console and go to Computers, Deployment area.
• Make sure that “Deployed” status is present for that host in question.
• If the host is listed with a different status, click on “Edit” and you’ll see the reason which caused the failed deployment.
• Retry the deployment after you corrected the situation and monitor the status.

        d.  Check if VMware vShield virtual appliance is turned on and that vShield service is installed on the affected host. In order to check this requirement, you will need to:

• Make sure that the VMware vShield VA is turned on and configured properly
• Check if vShield Endpoint service is installed
• Check if the affected host appears in the "Endpoint" tab, with the normal severity.

        e.  Check if the latest VMCI is present and vShield Endpoint drivers installed. In order to check this requirement, you will need to make sure that the version is 8.6.0 build 446312 or higher.
