How to clean infected Temporary Internet Files

 A. Overview

You can find below the default locations where every internet browser is storing the temporary internet files depending on the operating system:

Windows XP:

For Internet Explorer:  most common location is C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files. However, the cache may be moved by changing a value in the registry. Occasionally an additional (hidden) cache named "Temporary Internet Files" may appear in
C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet Files
or in C:\Documents and settings\LocalService\Temp\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5
Note: The last location can only be deleted by manually accessing the folder and removing it.

For Mozilla Firefox: C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxx.default\Cache

For Google Chrome: C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache

For Safari: C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\Safari\cache.db

For Opera: C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Opera\Opera\cache

Windows Vista/7:

For Internet Explorer:
C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\
C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low\

For Mozilla Firefox: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxx.default\cache

For Google Chrome: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache

For Safari: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\Safari\cache.db

For Opera: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Opera\Opera\cache
