What is SecurePass?
SecurePass is a password manager built on open-source technology, designed for easy and secure password management. It lets you create, save, autofill, and share strong passwords effortlessly. How do I install Bitdefender SecurePass?
To install Bitdefender SecurePass:
- Activate the subscription in your Bitdefender account.
- Select SecurePass in the left menu.
- For Windows and macOS devices, install the browser extension in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari.
- For mobile devices, install the app from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS).
How do I configure SecurePass?
After installation:
- Set up a master password, which will encrypt your data.
- Save your recovery key to regain access if you forget your master password.
What is a master password, and why is it important?
The master password is used to encrypt and unlock your SecurePass vault. It is not stored by Bitdefender, making it crucial for protecting your data. You need this password to access all the information stored in SecurePass.
What happens if I forget my master password?
If you forget your master password, you can use the recovery key (saved during the setup process) to reset it and regain access to your vault. Simply open the SecurePass desktop browser extension, web version, or Bitdefender Hub app for iOS and Android and log in with your Bitdefender account. Click on “Lost password?” and enter your recovery key to reset your master password.

Important! If you’ve lost both your master password and recovery key, contact support for help resetting your account. This will permanently erase all data stored in your vault. After the reset, you’ll be able to set a new master password and receive a new recovery key.
Can I change my recovery key?
Yes, you can generate a new recovery key at https://securepass.bitdefender.com/, through the SecurePass browser extension, or in the Bitdefender Hub mobile app. Your master password will stay the same. The new recovery key can be used as a backup if you’re ever unable to unlock the vault with your master password.
To reset the recovery key via browser:
- Go to SecurePass Settings > Generate Recovery Key.
- Set a PIN code to generate a new recovery key.
- Enter your PIN code > Unlock Vault.
- SecurePass will generate a new recovery key, which you can copy or download as a PDF.
To reset the recovery key via mobile app:
- In Bitdefender Hub tap the profile icon at the top right.
- Tap SecurePass > Generate Recovery key.
- SecurePass will generate a new recovery key, which you can copy or download as a PDF.
How do I use the SecurePass web client?
To access SecurePass through any browser, go to https://securepass.bitdefender.com/ and log in with your Bitdefender account. The web client lets you view and manage your passwords without installing an extension. It offers the same features as the SecurePass browser extension, except for autofill and automatic password saving.
How do I add items to Bitdefender SecurePass?
To add an item like an account, credit card, identity, or note:
- Open the SecurePass vault and click the “Add item” button.
- Choose the item type (e.g. Account, Credit Card).
- Enter the required information and click “Save.”

How do I delete items from my SecurePass vault?
You can delete any account, credit card, identity, or note saved in your Bitdefender SecurePass vault.
To delete a single item:
- Open SecurePass and go to your vault.
- Click on the item you want to remove (account, credit card, note, or identity).
- Click the three-dot icon, then choose the delete option.
To delete multiple items at once:
- Open SecurePass and go to your vault.
- Click the “Select” button.
- Select the items you want to delete, or click “Select all” to remove everything.
- Click the “Manage” button, then choose the delete option.
How do I edit items in SecurePass?
To edit an item saved in the SecurePass vault:
- Open SecurePass and go to your vault.
- Click on the item you want to modify (account, credit card, note, identity).
- Click the “Edit” button.
- When you’re done making changes, click “Save”.
Can I import passwords from another password manager?
Yes, you can import passwords from other password managers:
- Export your data from the old password manager.
- In SecurePass, go to Settings > Import passwords.

How do I organize my items in folders?
To organize items in folders:
- In your SecurePass vault, click “Add folder” or “Add”.
- Enter a name for the new folder.
- Open the item you want to move to the new folder, then:
- On desktop: Click Edit > Save item in
- On mobile: Tap the three dots menu at the top right > Move to
- Select the folder you created instead of your main vault.

How do I share passwords with others?
To securely share items from your vault:

What happens to shared links if someone enters the wrong password?
If a shared link is password-protected and the wrong password is entered, SecurePass will display an error message, preventing access to the shared data.

After enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) on a supported website or application, scan the QR code with SecurePass and save it in your vault. This code will be needed alongside your password for future logins.

Is my data safe in SecurePass?
Yes. SecurePass uses end-to-end encryption and requires both your Bitdefender login and master password to access your data.
How do I lock my SecurePass vault?
To immediately lock the vault across devices:
- Go to SecurePass Settings.
- To lock the vault:
- On desktop: Click Lock account.
- On mobile: Tap Secure Me > Lock account.
To lock the vault after a set time across devices:
- Go to SecurePass Settings.
- Click the “PIN setup” or “PIN” button.
- Set a PIN code.
- Decide how long the SecurePass vault will remain unlocked before requiring the PIN and locking automatically.
