Disabling Automatic Windows Updates to allow updates via Patch Management in Windows 10

This section describes how to allow Windows 10 updates via GravityZone Patch Management by disabling Windows Automatic Updates.

The Patch Management module in GravityZone releases you from the burden of keeping the endpoints updated with the latest software patches, by automatically distributing and installing patches for a vast variety of products.

With Patch Management, you can also distribute and install the latest Windows 10 updates as an alternative to Windows Automatic Updates.

To be able to do this, you first have to disable Automatic Updates on the endpoints via Group Policy (GPO).

  1. Open Group Policy Object Editor.

  2. Navigate this path: Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update

  3. Set Configure Automatic Updates to Disabled.

  4. Force a GPO update in your network.
