Uninstalling
If you do not want to use Bitdefender Security for AWS anymore, you must complete the following steps steps.
Uninstall the security agent from EC2 instances
If you do not plan to manage the security of your EC2 instances with Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools, you must uninstall the security agent from them. There are two ways you can uninstall Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools:
Manually on the target instances:
For Windows OS:
Log in to the EC2 instance.
Go to Control Panel and select Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools.
Access the option Uninstall.
Enter the Bitdefender password, if enabled in the security policy. During uninstallation, you can view the progress of the task.
For Linux OS:
Open the terminal.
Gain root access using the
su
orsudo su
commands.Navigate using the cd command to the following path:
/opt/BitDefender/bin
Run the script:
# ./remove-sve-client
Enter the Bitdefender password to continue, if enabled in the security policy.
Remotely, from GravityZone Control Center:
Go to the Network page.
Select the managed EC2 instances you do not want to manage any more.
You can also select the entire Amazon EC2 group under Computer and Groups.
Click Tasks at the upper-side of the table and select Uninstall client. A configuration window is displayed.
In the Uninstall agent task window, you can choose whether to keep the quarantined files on the endpoint or to delete them.
Click Save to create the task.
A confirmation message appears. You can view and manage the task in Network > Tasks.
Remove the Amazon EC2 integration
You can delete the Amazon EC2 integration from GravityZone Control Center by following these steps:
Go to the Integrations page available from the menu in the upper-right corner of the console.
Select the check box corresponding to the solution you want to remove.
Click the Delete button at the upper side of table.
You must confirm the deletion in the new window that shows up.
Deleting an Amazon EC2 integration has the following effects:
The Amazon EC2 inventory is removed from Control Center.
All unmanaged instances are going to be deleted from GravityZone network inventory.
Managed instances are going to be moved to Computer and Groups as virtual machines.
The security agent is going to expire on managed machines, meaning that they are going to stop communication with GravityZone and Bitdefender Bitdefender Cloud Services.
Important
However, if there are available license slots on the GravityZone license key, the expired agent is going to be re-licensed on these machines. Therefore, it is recommended to uninstall Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools from the remaining managed machines and then delete them, if you do not plan to manage them anymore.
