ConnectWise Automate integration

This section contains the release notes for the ConnectWise Automate integration with GravityZone. The ConnectWise Automate Integration Guide is available here.

Version 1.4.0.61

Release date: 2022.02.23

New features and improvements

Agent deployment

  • Added support for installing the Bitdefender security agent on Apple computers with M1 CPUs.

User experience

  • Minor interface adjustments for more consistency.

Resolved issues

Plugin settings

  • Changing the API key resulted in duplicating event notifications for existing alerts under a certain scenario.

Client mapping

  • Remapping a client to an existing GravityZone company after it had been removed was returning an error when the groups and packages were already created from the previous mapping. Now the plugin deletes any packages found using the name convention during the mapping process.

  • The plugin sometimes returned “object reference not set” exceptions when performing a client mapping operation.

Auto deployment

  • The plugin did not properly clean up the deployment package details if an existing client mapping was removed. This generated deployment issues in later steps.

Computer screen

  • The plugin did not update the endpoint details in a timely manner in the Computer screen when uninstalling the Bitdefender security agent directly from the machine.

Internal monitors

  • The Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) monitor was being disabled for installations on certain servers due to an incompatibility with MySQL 5.6.

Version 1.4.0.55

Release date: 2021.12.29

New features and improvements

Configuration

Version 1.4.0.43

Release date: 2021.11.10

Minimum plugin version: 1.4.0.43 (update available through Solution Center)

New features and improvements

  • You can now deploy the Bitdefender security agent on Windows machines by using the Setup Downloader file instead of the full kit. This option is available in the Tools > Bitdefender GravityZone section, under Plugin Settings > Advanced Settings, and it is enabled by default for both existing and new plugin installations. Agent deployment on Linux and macOS machines will continue to rely on the full kit.

  • Added support for HyperDetect security events, which trigger alerts through a specific internal monitor, the same as with the other Bitdefender security events. You can enable HyperDetect alerts in the Tools > Bitdefender GravityZone section, under Plugin Settings > Alert Settings.

Version 1.4.0.34

Release date: 2021.09.08

Minimum plugin version: 1.4.0.34 (update available through Solution Center)

Resolved issues

Agent deployment

  • The plugin reported an incorrect installation status for Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools on Windows due to an internal file reconfiguration.

Version 1.4.0.32

Release date: 2021.08.04

Minimum plugin version: 1.4.0.32 (update available through Solution Center)

New features and improvements

Configuration

To reconfigure the subscription of a synchronized client, use the Change Product option in Client Subscriptions page.

    Note

After changing the product for a client, you need to reconfigure the Bitdefender security agent installed on computers from GravityZone in order to include the new features. The existing product expires in seven days.

Licensing

  • The Bitdefender plugin now provisions companies for MSPs having Monthly Subscription, Monthly Subscription Trial and Monthly License Trial.

  • The Bitdefender alerts are configurable in the new page Alert Settings. This page includes some content from the previous section Push Events from the Plugin Settings page (callback URL and history settings), plus options to enable alerts for blocked threats, current threats (still present on computers), or both.

The Alert Settings page is available in Tools > Bitdefender GravityZone.

  • We made major improvements to the help screen that informs you of the detected issues with the GravityZone integration. The new Plugin Status page includes:

    • Statuses for Automate components (Automation Server, Web Server/IIS, Control Center) in relation with the Bitdefender plugin.

    • Action buttons (Restart Database Agent and Reload IIS).

    • Recommendations.

Using action buttons requires Super Admin role.

The Plugin Status page is available all the time in Tools > Bitdefender GravityZone and it appears on other screens whenever an issue occurs.

For details on these features, refer to the ConnectWise Automate Integration Guide.

Note

  • When updating the Bitdefender plugin, you need to restart the ConnectWise Automate database agent and Control Center. For details on this topic, refer to Update the Bitdefender plugin for ConnectWise Automate.

Note

When updating the Bitdefender plugin, you need to restart the ConnectWise Automate database agent and Control Center. New features and improvements
  • You can now enable and disable GravityZone services on clients through the Bitdefender plugin from a single configuration page. The settings are available in Tools > Bitdefender GravityZone > Client Subscriptions.

  • Some changes have occurred in the deployment package settings:

    • The default package now always includes Advanced Anti-Exploit and Network Attack Defense.

    • The default package may also include the optional modules Full Disk Encryption, Patch Management and EDR Sensor, depending on the license.

    Important

    • Modifying Client Subscriptions does not update existing deployment packages.

    • Modifying Client Subscriptions does not update newly created packages unless you have enabled the desired modules in the Package Defaults page.

    • Modifying settings in the Package Defaults page does not automatically update the deployment packages existing in the GravityZone console. You only can update them manually or create new ones.

    • To recreate deployment packages:

      • Delete any of the ConnectWise deployment package from the GravityZone console.

      • Go to Automate Control Center > Tools > Bitdefender GravityZone > Auto Deployment and click Refresh Package List.

The plugin will recreate the deployment package based on the settings from the Package Defaults page.

  • When creating customer records in the Client Mapping page, the plugin will prompt you to enable additional modules according to your license.

  • Create scan tasks for multiple computer at once in the new page Tasks and Actions, available in the Client and Location screens.

  • Learn about issues detected on your devices from the new alert Detected Issues implemented in the Computer screen. For example, this alert may refer on macOS to permissions to Full Disk Access or kernel extensions.

  • The Deployment Actions page now displays the new status Installed with Issues. This status indicates such situations as permissions required on macOS or critical services not started on Linux.

  • The Bitdefender plugin informs you through a pop-up window when detecting a version mismatch between ConnectWiseAutomate Control Center and Server. The pop-up window also redirects you to an page with instructions for fixing this issue.

  • The API validation process has been simplified and improved.

Resolved issues
  • Adjusted the mechanism used for collecting information related to computer details from GravityZone. This change fixes some inaccurate error messages in ConnectWise Automate logs.

  • Fixed an issue that affected the database query performance by duplicating certain records. The fix implies removing all records from the affected areas and recovering them automatically. This fix does not create additional impact on daily operations. All devices will be repopulated with the recovered data within two hours of being online.

  • Minor text fixes in the plugin interface.
