Revolut Introduces a New Way for Customers to Check If They’re Speaking With a Real Agent

To help counter scammers impersonating Revolut, the company has recently introduced a new Call Identification feature that helps customers verify whether they’re speaking with a real Revolut agent.

Revolut’s Call Identification feature helps customers verify whether an ongoing call is from Revolut support or from a scammer.

As Revolut explains:

“The new feature detects when a customer opening the Revolut app is on the phone — this includes apps allowing voice calls — and confirms whether they are, or not, talking with a Revolut agent.”

When a customer opens the Revolut app while on a call, the app checks whether that interaction is linked to official Revolut support. The user then receives a clear in-app signal confirming whether the caller is a legitimate Revolut agent.

This real-time feedback is especially important during high-pressure calls, where scammers seek to keep victims engaged long enough to extract sensitive information or trigger unauthorized transactions.

It’s important to understand the scope of this feature.

Revolut’s Call Identification tool is designed to prevent scams involving criminals impersonating Revolut. It does not detect all impersonation scams or block scam calls unrelated to Revolut, such as those pretending to be from other banks, delivery companies, or government institutions.

The feature is already available, with slight differences depending on the device:

  • iOS users: The feature is already active for all Revolut customers using iOS
  • Android users: The feature is available but must be manually enabled from the Security Hub in the Revolut app

Despite this extra layer of security, Revolut customers should remain cautious and verify unexpected requests through official channels. Device-level mobile protection also plays an essential role, alongside in-app security features.

Bitdefender Mobile Security provides device-level protection, regardless of which app or service a scammer claims to represent. From call blocking to filtering known spam and scam numbers to scam detection and on-device malware protection and app anomaly detection features, our security solutions keep devices safe from new and existing threats.

Free Tools That Help Users Verify Before Acting

For situations where a call isn’t automatically blocked or clearly identified, Bitdefender offers free tools that help people pause and verify:

  • Bitdefender Scamio: our AI-powered scam detector that helps you assess suspicious calls, messages, or scenarios using simple, conversational guidance
  • Bitdefender Link Checker: an in-browser tool that you can use to scan links often helping you avoid fake login pages or payment requests

And there’s more to come. Even with call blocking and in-app verification, many people still ask a simple question: “Should I even answer this number at all?” Bitdefender is preparing a Phone Number Lookup service designed to help people proactively check whether a phone number has been associated with scam activity before engaging.
