Cybercriminals are impersonating Bitdefender in an ongoing recruitment scam designed to deceive job seekers. Victims report receiving emails and messages inviting them to interviews under the “Bitdefender Careers” name, often from lookalike domains such as bitdefendercorp.com.
These communications are not connected to Bitdefender in any way. Scammers misuse our brand, logo, and reputation to trick applicants into revealing sensitive information, installing malicious software, or even sending money under the guise of employment.
Here’s how to recognize recruitment scams impersonating Bitdefender and how to stay safe:
How These Scams Work
Employment scams are a common form of online fraud nowadays. Criminals exploit the trust people place in well-known companies and the urgency of job hunting to steal data or money.
These scams typically follow a pattern:
Job seekers receive an unsolicited email, text, or LinkedIn message that appears to come from a real company representative.
The sender’s domain looks convincing but is slightly altered — for example, bitdefendercorp.com
The message includes a fake job description, interview invitation, or employment contract, and may link to an imitation of Bitdefender’s careers page.
When the candidate replies, the scammer may move the conversation to chat apps such as Telegram or WhatsApp, posing as an HR manager or recruiter.
The conversation often ends with a request for money, personal documents, or software installation — which can result in identity theft or malware infection.
How to Verify a Legitimate Bitdefender Interview
You can easily confirm whether a recruitment message truly comes from Bitdefender by checking the following:
Email domain: All official Bitdefender recruitment communication comes only from addresses ending in @bitdefender.com.
Job listings: Legitimate job openings are listed exclusively on bitdefender.com and our verified recruitment partner, bitdefender.csod.com. Trusted job boards link directly to the latter.
Interview process: Bitdefender recruiters schedule interviews through official channels and send calendar invites from @bitdefender.com accounts — never via messaging apps or personal email addresses.
No shortcuts: We do not use chat-only interviews, ask for personal financial data, or request software installations during hiring.
These tactics are designed to steal your money or compromise your personal data.
What to Do If You’re Unsure
If you receive a suspicious message or offer claiming to come from Bitdefender:
Do not click links or download attachments.
Verify the sender’s email domain. It must end with @bitdefender.com.
Forward the message (attach the original email if possible) to [email protected] with the subject “Recruitment Scam.”
Our security team will investigate and take steps to shut down the fraudulent source.
If You’ve Already Engaged with the Scammers
If you’ve replied to the scammer or shared any information:
Reset all passwords you may have used or shared.
Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) on your accounts for added protection.
Run a full system scan with your security software to detect potential malware.
Report the incident to your local cybercrime authority
Fraudsters are constantly refining their tactics, but a few steps can keep you safe from recruitment scams like these:
Verify the job listing. Check that the position appears on Bitdefender’s official careers page or through our verified partner site bitdefender.csod.com.
Inspect the sender’s email. Official messages come only from @bitdefender.com.
Be wary of urgency or unrealistic offers. Scammers often create a false sense of urgency to prompt victims to act quickly.
Check the recruiter’s identity. Search their name on LinkedIn and confirm they are part of Bitdefender’s verified network.
Never send money or install third-party tools. Bitdefender will never ask you to pay, install software, or perform financial transactions during hiring.
