How to check if you’re logged into Windows with an administrator account

In this article, we will show you how to check if you’re logged in to your computer with a Windows administrator account. Depending on your version of Windows, follow the instructions presented below.


 

On Windows 10 and Windows 11

• Click the Windows windows key  Start menu.

• Type Control Panel in the search box, then select Control Panel in the search results.

• In Control Panel, open User Accounts.

• Click on Manage User Accounts.

• All user accounts will be listed on the page. Each account is part of a group (Administrator, Standard, etc).

• Before installing Bitdefender make sure that you are logged into an account listed in the Administrator group.

 

 

On Windows 8

• Right-click in the bottom left corner of your screen (on the Windows windows key  logo).

• Click on Control Panel.

• Open User Accounts.

• Click on Change account type or Manage another account.

• All user accounts will be listed on the page. Each account has a status assigned (Administrator, Standard, etc).

• Before installing Bitdefender make sure that you are logged into an account with the status Administrator.

 

On Windows 7

• Click the Windows  Start button and click on Control Panel.

• Open User Accounts.

• Click on Manage another account.

• All user accounts will be listed on the page. Each account has a status assigned (Administrator, Standard, etc).

• Before installing Bitdefender make sure that you are logged into an account with the status Administrator.
