How to Share Passwords Securely with SecurePass [Bitdefender App]

The SecurePass service available in Bitdefender App provides a secure way to share sensitive information. This guide explains how to securely share passwords, credit card numbers, and other private information using the desktop browser extension, the web version, or the Bitdefender Hub app for iOS and Android.

Share Passwords with a Link

This tool allows you to securely share any item saved in your vault with others, even if they don’t use SecurePass. The data is shared in an encrypted environment, so you don’t need to worry about it being compromised.

Follow these steps to share passwords via link using the SecurePass desktop browser extension or web version:

1. Choose an Item to Share:

Go to https://securepass.bitdefender.com/ or open the Bitdefender SecurePass browser extension.
Go to your vault and click on the item you want to share.
Click the three dots menu in the top-right corner of the item > click the Share link option.

2. Create a Share Link:

Before generating the link, you can specify:
- Expiration date (when the link should expire).
- Usage limit (how many times the link can be used).
- Password protection (optional, but recommended for extra security).
Press the Create link share button to generate the link.
Copy the generated link and send it to the intended recipient.

3. Accessing Shared Items:

If you’ve password-protected the link, recipients will need to enter the correct passphrase to access the shared item.
Incorrect password entries will prompt an error message.

2. Create a Share Link:

Before generating the link, you can turn on the corresponding switch to specify:
- Expiration date (when the link should expire).

2. Add Item to Group:

To share an item with a group:
- Go to your vault and click on the item you want to share.
- Click the three dots menu in the top-right corner of the item.
- Choose the Add to group option.

3. Set Edit Rights:

Select the name of the group you want to share the item with.
Set access rights (read, write, grant) based on the level of control you want for group members.
Click Save, then Done.

2. Create a Group or Add to a Group:

Tap Create a Group if you haven’t already.
- Or choose the desired group and then tap Add to selected Groups if one or more groups have already been created.

3. Set Edit Rights:

Check the box next to the group you want to share the item with.
To assign additional access rights (edit, share) to group members, use the appropriate switches.
Tap the Add to selected Groups button.

Manage Groups

All created groups and the number of members in each appear in the Groups section of SecurePass. Follow the steps below to manage SecurePass groups.

Select a group name, then press the three dots menu to:

Rename the group.
Edit members:
- Invite members: Send email invitations to add new members (they must have an active SecurePass subscription).
- Assign rights:
  - Grant admin rights to specific members.
  - Enable sharing rights for members.
- Remove members: Click the trash icon next to a user’s email to remove them from the group.
Leave group: Exit the group as a member.
Delete group: Permanently remove the group from SecurePass.

Tap the Services icon in the bottom navigation bar of the Bitdefender Hub app.
Scroll down to SecurePass, then tap on Sharing > View Groups.

- Rename the group.
- Add members to this group: Send email invitations to add a trusted contact (they must have an active SecurePass subscription).
- Assign rights:

- Remove from group: Expel a group member.

SecurePass users can track all shared items in the Sharing section.

To track all shared items using the SecurePass desktop browser extension or web version:

Go to https://securepass.bitdefender.com/ or open the SecurePass browser extension.
Go to Sharing in the Bitdefender SecurePass menu:

- When you receive a shared item, it will appear under the New shares tab. You can accept or decline the share request by pressing the checkmark respectively the x button.
- Once accepted, the shared item will be saved in your vault.

To track all shared items using the Sharing section of Bitdefender Hub:

Open the Bitdefender Hub app on your iOS or Android device.
Tap the Services icon in the bottom navigation bar.
Scroll down to SecurePass, then tap on Sharing:

- View generated links, items you’ve shared with others, and items shared with you in the Shared Items panel.
- Manage the people you securely share items with in the Trusted contacts panel.
- Access vault items shared with your groups in real time in the Groups panel.
