How do I check if I have a 32 or 64-bit Windows version?

Follow the steps below to find out if your computer is running a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows architecture:

  1. Go to your PC and click the Windows Start  button     |  windows key   in the lower-left corner of the screen.
  2. In the search box, type System Information. If nothing comes up in the search results, type msinfo32 instead.
  3. Next, select System Information in the list of search results.
  4. A new window will pop up on your screen. In the System Type section, you can see if it’s an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) based PC.
