Notorious hacker arrested in Romania
Police in Romania said they have arrested notable hacker TinKode, who is known for allegedly hacking into the United States government and military websites and exposing their internet security shortfalls, PC Magazine said.
TinKode, real name Razvan Manole Cernaianu, had hacked the Pentagon and NASA, posting direct evidence of it online, according to the Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism. Cernaianu is a 20-year-old student studying information technology from Romania and he also allegedly broke into U.S. Army servers and stole confidential information before posting it on blogs, according to PC Magazine.
"The accused has designed a program / computer application, which he and offered for sale on the personal blog where he posted a video that captured the cyber attacks carried out on the official website of the U.S. administration," according to the RDIOCT's press release on the arrest. "[Because of] the criminal activity, there has been temporarily blocked attacked systems, thus restricting access to them and seriously disturbing their proper functioning."
TinKode had also taken credit for an internet security attack at the Britain's Royal Navy. According to Romanian authorities, NASA and the FBI aided in the arrest.
