An independent GfK study ranks BitDefender Professional Plus v8 first by number of units sold on the non-game software market in France, in retail, in May 2005. BitDefender holds, according to the study, 30% of the French retail antivirus market, in units, in May.

These numbers were reported at the international meeting of BitDefender directors that came to an end on Sunday. BitDefender made the first public announcement on financial results, stating that overall gross revenue for the first semester was over 33% higher than anticipated, and that forecasts for 2005 were adjusted accordingly, to over 30 million USD. BitDefender Germany also showed strong income growth in the first semester and climbed into the retail top 3.

"With the launch of antispyware and antiphishing modules in BitDefender 9, we will continue to capitalize on the discontent created by the traditional players' disregard for customers' needs, helping us reach an average revenue growth rate of more than 180% for the fourth consecutive year", declared BitDefender International Sales and Marketing Manager Bogdan Irina. He went on to state that "BitDefender's objective is to maintain an average growth rate of more than 100% over the next three years, through massive expansion into the Asian and North-American markets".
