BitDefender®, an award-winning provider of innovative internet security solutions, today announced the release of its Mobile Security Software Development Kits (SDK) and rebranding solutions to help partners expand product portfolios with mobile antivirus capabilities.

According to the Nielsen Social Media Report, today nearly 4 in 5 active Internet users visit social networks and blogs - almost 40% of them from a mobile device. At the end of 2011, a Juniper Global Threat Center report pointed out a “472% increase in Android malware samples since July 2011”.

As these developments call for swift response, Bitdefender now offers the #1 rated malware technology to all antivirus, security, or mobile vendors looking to incorporate features that fend off mobile threats without straining the battery or other limited resources in mobile devices. It is ready for integration into mobile architectures and seamless operation on Android-powered phones and tablets alike.

The new rebrandable mobile security product, Bitdefender Mobile Security, allows vendors to easily add mobile antivirus, web security, privacy advisor or anti-theft capability without requiring a team of developers or security experts. The malware scanner scans any application after being downloaded and allows individuals to scan their mobile device to ensure the information inside the device is safe. The safe web browsing feature checks malware threats within the cloud to help users avoid malware, phishing, or fraudulent sites. While the anti-theft capability allows users to remotely track and lock the device or erase data within their mobile product. All of these features and more are available to mobile vendors seeking to provide their customers a broader range of solutions.

“With the fast expansion of mobile computing, mobile security has become important requirement both for consumers, businesses as well as mobile ecosystem vendors”, said Peter Laakkonen, Bitdefender’s General Manager of OEM and Technology Licensing. “With its modular product portfolio and flexible implementation models Bitdefender is well positioned to provide security for all parts of the mobile infrastructure."
