Scam Radar Wins the Scam Fighter Award for Awareness and Education
We’ve made it our business to protect users from scams a long time ago, so we're pleased to announce that at the Global Anti-Scam Summit Americas in San Francisco, GASA recognized Bitdefender Scam Radar in the Awareness and Education category.
User scam awareness usually fails short on reach and timing, and that’s because the people most likely to lose money to a scam rarely read security blogs or install security apps. Moreover, content planned weeks in advance cannot describe campaigns that continuously rotate domains, creatives, and narratives within days, as the AI-driven investment scams Bitdefender tracked on social media.
Scam Radar closes both these gaps by treating awareness as an intelligence product. Suspicious SMS messages and social media ads are clustered into campaigns. Then, AI classification maps each cluster to a scam taxonomy and triggers localized alerts in the regions where the wave is active, so users are warned before they are targeted rather than after they respond. On top of that, every alert carries a real scam sample, the indicators to watch for, like keywords, links, impersonated brands and public figures, and guidance users can share with family and friends. There is no editorial cycle between detection and education, everything happens in real time.
Since launching in early 2026 inside Bitdefender Mobile Security for Android and iOS, Scam Radar has detected more than 460,000 risky social media ad campaigns and 52,000 SMS campaigns, reaching over 750,000 users across 195 countries.
Why this matters for operators and banks
The strategic value of Scam Radar lies in reach. Telcos, ISPs, and banks already hold the relationship, the channel, and the trust, that’s why delivering Scam Radar alerts through an operator or banking app could puts specific, timely warnings in front of customers who would never install a standalone security product.
It’s also practical to deploy. Scam Radar is software-delivered and modular, so entering a new market requires telemetry density and localization, not platform build. The same detect, cluster, and notify process can feed your own fraud response workflows. And with scrutiny of scam losses rising in most markets, a warning delivered before the transaction is a visible commitment to customer protection.
