Disable the DHCP server feature on my router

Instructions for specific router models

2WIRE routers (3800HGV-B, 3801HGV)

Please follow these steps in order to disable the DHCP server:

  1. Open your web browser, type the wireless router?s default IP address: 192.168.1.254 and press Enter.

  2. The Home page will be displayed. If you set an administrative password for the gateway you will be asked for the password.

  3. Navigate to Settings > LAN > DHCP. The DHCP Configuration page appears.

  4. Disable the DHCP server by clearing the DHCP Server Enabled check box.

  5. Click Save to apply the changes.

NOTE: AT&T provided routers may not have the Enable/Disable DHCP Server option available. Please contact your ISP for information on how to disable the DHCP Server on your gateway.

Actiontec MI424WR router

Please follow these steps in order to disable the DHCP server:

  1. Open your web browser, type the wireless router?s default IP address: 192.168.1.1 and press Enter.

  2. To access the router?s configuration utility you will have to login. The default username is admin and the default password is password

  3. Go to My Network > Network Connections > Network (Home/Office)

  4. Under IP Address Distribution select DHCP Relay

  5. Click Apply to save the change.

Actiontec routers (C1000A/C1000A-D; C2000A/C2000A-D; GT701-WG; PK5001A)

Please follow these steps in order to disable the DHCP server:

  1. Open your web browser, type the router?s IP address and press Enter. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1.

  2. To log in enter your username and password. The default username is admin; the default password is printed on the routers label.

  3. Go to Advanced Setup > DHCP Settings.

  4. Select the Off radio button for DHCP Server.

  5. Click Apply to save the settings.

Actiontec GT784WNV router

Please follow these steps in order to disable the DHCP server:

  1. Open your web browser, type the router?s IP address and press Enter. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1.

  2. To log in enter your username and password. The default username is admin; the default password is printed on the routers label.

  3. Go to Advanced Setup > LAN IP and DHCP Setting.

  4. Select the Disable box next to DHCP Server.

  5. Click Apply to save the settings.

Actiontec Q1000 Qwest router

Please follow these steps in order to disable the DHCP server:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type gateway?s IP address and press Enter. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1.

  3. By default there are no login credentials required to access the router configuration page. If you set a username and password after the initial gateway setup, you will be required to enter them to access the configuration page.

  4. Set the DHCP server state to Disable.

  5. Click Apply to save the change.

Arris DG1670 router

Please follow these steps in order to disable the DHCP server:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type gateway?s IP address and press Enter. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. A login screen is displayed.

  3. Enter the gateway username and password. The username is admin. The default password is password.

  4. Go to Wireless > LAN Setup > LAN Settings.

  5. Uncheck the box for Enable DHCP Server.

  6. For the change to take effect, click the Apply button at the bottom of the screen.

Arris routers (NVG510, NVG589, NVG598)

Please follow these steps in order to disable the DHCP server:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type gateway?s IP address and press Enter. The default IP address is 192.168.1.254. If you are asked to login, the device access code is on the side label.

  3. Go to Local Network > Subnets & DHCP.

  4. Set DHCP Server Enable to Off.

  5. Click Save so that the change takes effect.

Asus routers (RT-AC66U, RT-AC68R, RT-AC68U, RT-AC87U, RT-AC3200, RT-N56U, RT-N65U,
RT-N66U)

Please follow these steps in order to disable the DHCP server:

  1. Open your web browser, type the wireless router?s default IP address: 192.168.1.1 and press Enter.

  2. To access the router?s configuration utility you will have to login. The default username is admin and the default password is admin.

  3. In the navigation panel go to Advanced Settings and select LAN.

  4. Next select DHCP Server.

  5. Go to Basic Config > Enable the DHCP Server and select NO.

  6. Click Apply at the bottom of the page to save the settings.

Belkin routers (F7D4301, F9K1103 - N750 DB)

Please follow these steps in order to disable the DHCP server:

  1. Open your web browser, type the wireless router?s IP address or http://router and press Enter. The default IP address is 192.168.2.1.

  2. You will be asked to enter your password. If you have never set a password, leave the Password field blank and click Submit.

  3. Go to LAN Setup > LAN Settings.

  4. Select the Off radio button for DHCP Server.

  5. Click Apply Changes

Buffalo routers (WZR-600DHP2, WZR-900DHP)

Please follow these steps in order to disable the DHCP server:

  1. Open your web browser, type the wireless router?s default IP address: 192.168.1.1 and press Enter.

  2. To access the router?s configuration utility you will have to login. The default username is admin and the default password is password.

  3. Click Advanced Settings.

  4. Select LAN > LAN.

  5. Click the Apply button.

Cisco DPC3939 router

To disable the DHCP server feature:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type the router?s IP address. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. A login screen is displayed.

  3. On the Status DOCSIS WAN page, leave the User Name and Password field blank and click Log In.

  4. The gateway opens with an Administration Management page in the forefront. You can use the Administration Management page to set your User Name and Password.

  5. Click the Setup link from the top of the screen.

  6. Select Lan Setup from the left side of the screen.

  7. On DHCP server menu select Disable and then Save Settings.

D-Link DGL 4100 router

Please follow these steps in order to disable the DHCP server:

  1. Open your web browser, type the router?s IP address and press Enter. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1.

  2. To log in select Admin from the drop down list then enter your password. The password is left blank by default, so if you did not set a password for your router, click Log In.

  3. Go to Basic > NETWORK SETTINGS.

  4. Uncheck the box for Enable DHCP Server

  5. Click Save Settings at the top of the page.

D-Link routers (DIR-300, DIR-600, DIR-651, DIR-655, DIR-850L)

Please follow these steps in order to disable the DHCP server:

  1. Open your web browser, type the router?s IP address and press Enter. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1.

  2. To log in select Admin from the drop down list then enter your password. The password is left blank by default, so if you did not set a password for your router, click Log In.

  3. Go to Setup > NETWORK SETTINGS.

  4. Uncheck the box for Enable DHCP Server

  5. Click Save Settings at the top of the page.

DrayTech 2760 ADSL/VDSL router

Please follow these steps in order to disable the DHCP server:

  1. Open your web browser, type the wireless router?s default IP address: 192.168.1.1 and press Enter.

  2. To access the router?s configuration utility you will have to login. The default username is admin and the default password is admin.

  3. Go to LAN > General Setup.

  4. Select the Disable radio button, under DHCP Server Configuration.

  5. Click OK to save the change.

Fritzbox 7390 router

Please follow these steps in order to disable the DHCP server:

  1. Open a browser window and the router IP address or http://fritz.box. The default IP address is 169.254.1.1 .

  2. There is no Username or Password.

  3. First please make sure you are in the Advanced View.

  4. Go to Home Network > Network > Network Settings.

  5. Click the IPv4 addresses button.

  6. Uncheck the Enable DHCP Server.

  7. Click the OK button to save the changes.

Linksys routers (E1500, E3000, E4200, EA4500)

To disable the DHCP server feature in the router:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type the router?s IP address. The default IP address is 192.168.1.1. A login screen is displayed.

  3. Enter the router user name and password. The user name is admin. The default password is admin.

  4. Go to Setup > Basic Setup.

  5. Select DHCP Server setting.

  6. Click the Disable box.

Linksys routers (EA6500, EA6900, WRT1900AC)

To disable the DHCP server feature in the router:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type the router?s IP address and hit Enter. The default IP address is 192.168.1.1 .

  3. A login screen is displayed.

  4. Enter the router password. The default password is admin.

  5. Under Router Settings, select Connectivity.

  6. Select Local Network.

  7. Uncheck the DHCP Server box.

  8. Click OK to save changes.

Motorola routers (SURFboard SBG6580, SURFboard SBG6782)

How to access Interface and disable DHCP:

  1. Open a browser window.

  2. Type in the IP address for the modem 192.168.0.1.

  3. Type in the default Username: admin.

  4. Type in the default Password: motorola

  5. Select DHCP from the Basic menu.

  6. Select No to deactivate the DHCP Server.

  7. Click Apply to save your changes.

Netgear routers (C3000, C3700, C6300)

To disable the DHCP server feature in the router:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type http://www.routerlogin.net, http://www.routerlogin.com or the router?s IP address. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. A login screen is displayed.

  3. Enter the router user name and password. The user name is admin. The default password is password. The user name and password are case-sensitive.

  4. Select ADVANCED > Setup > LAN Setup.

  5. Clear the Use Gateway as DHCP Server check box.

  6. Click the Apply button.

Netgear routers (CG24D, CG814WG, CG3000D, CG4500BD)

To disable the DHCP server feature in the router:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type the router?s IP address. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. A login screen is displayed.

  3. Enter the router user name and password. The user name is admin. The default password is password. The user name and password are case-sensitive.

  4. Select ADVANCED > LAN IP.

  5. Select the NO radio button.

  6. Click the Apply button.

Netgear routers (R4500, R6200, R6300, R7000, R8000, WNDR3800, WNDR4500)

To disable the DHCP server feature in the router:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type http://www.routerlogin.net, http://www.routerlogin.com or the router?s IP address. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. A login screen is displayed.

  3. Enter the router user name and password. The user name is admin. The default password is password. The user name and password are case-sensitive.

  4. Select ADVANCED > Setup > LAN Setup.

  5. Clear the Use Router as DHCP Server check box.

  6. Click the Apply button.

Netgear routers (WNR1000, WNR2000, WNDR3500, WNDR3700)

To disable the DHCP server feature in the router:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type http://www.routerlogin.net, http://www.routerlogin.com or the router?s IP address. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. A login screen is displayed.

  3. Enter the router user name and password. The user name is admin. The default password is password. The user name and password are case-sensitive.

  4. Select ADVANCED > LAN Setup.

  5. Clear the Use Router as DHCP Server check box.

  6. Click the Apply button.

Netgear WGR614 router

To disable the DHCP server feature in the router:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type http://www.routerlogin.net, http://www.routerlogin.com or the router?s IP address. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. A login screen is displayed.

  3. Enter the router user name and password. The user name is admin. The default password is password. The user name and password are case-sensitive.

  4. Select ADVANCED > LAN IP Setup.

  5. Clear the Use Router as DHCP Server check box.

  6. Click the Apply button.

Netgear UTM 5 router

To disable the DHCP server feature in the router:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type the router?s IP address. The default IP address is 192.168.1.1 . A login screen is displayed.

  3. Enter the router user name and password. The user name is admin. The default password is password. The user name and password are case-sensitive.

  4. Select Network Config > LAN Settings.

  5. Edit defaultVlan.

  6. Select the Disable DHCP Server radio button.

  7. Click the Apply button.

Peplink Balance router

To disable the DHCP server feature in the router:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type the router?s IP address. The default IP address is 192.168.1.1 .

  3. Enter the router user name and password. The default user name is admin. The default password is password.

  4. Go to Network > Interfaces > LAN.

  5. Edit defaultVlan.

  6. Under DHCP Server Settings uncheck the box next to Enable.

  7. Click Save to apply the change.

Ubee DVW3201 router

To disable the DHCP server feature in the router:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type the router?s IP address. The default IP address is 192.168.1.1 .

  3. Click Login on the left side of the modem configuration page. The default username is user and the default password is user.

  4. Click Gateway and then click DHCP.

  5. Select the NO radio button for SHCP server.

  6. Click Apply to save the changes.

Ubiquity routers (ER_LITE, ERPOE-5)

To disable the DHCP server feature in the router:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type the router?s IP address. The default IP address is 192.168.1.1 .

  3. The default username is ubnt and the default password is ubnt.

  4. Go to Services > DHCP Server.

  5. Click Actions for your DHCP Server and select Disable.

Westell VersaLink Wireless Gateway 7500

To disable the DHCP server feature in the router:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type the router?s IP address. The default IP address is 192.168.1.1 .

  3. By default there are no credentials required to login. If you set a username and password after the initial gateway setup, you will be required to enter them to access the configuration page.

  4. Go to Advanced > LAN > DHCP.

  5. Select Disabled from the DHCP Server drop down menu.

  6. Click Save to make the changes.

Zoom 5350 router

To disable the DHCP server feature in the router:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type the router?s IP address. The default IP address is 192.168.1.1 . A login screen is displayed.

  3. Enter the router user name and password. The user name is admin. The default password is admin.

  4. Click Basic on the menu bar, then select DHCP.

  5. Select No for DHCP Server.

  6. Click Apply to save the changes.

Zoom 5790 router

To disable the DHCP server feature in the router:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type the router?s IP address. The default IP address is 192.168.1.1 . A login screen is displayed.

  3. Enter the router user name and password. The user name is admin. The default password is zoomadsl.

  4. Click Advanced Setup on the menu bar, then select LAN Configuration.

  5. Select Disable for DHCP Server Status.

  6. Click Save Changes to apply the changes.

Zyxel C1000Z router

To disable the DHCP server feature in the router:

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.

  2. Type the router?s IP address. The default IP address is 192.168.1.1 . A login screen is displayed.

  3. Enter the router user name and password. The user name is admin. The default password is located on the bottom of the modem.

  4. Click Advanced Setup, then select DHCP Settings.

  5. Set the DHCP server state to Disable.

  6. Click Apply to save the changes.
