Prince William Posts Defense Ministry Passwords on Personal Website

Prince William recently posted a series of photos on his personal website that portray an average day in the Royal Air Force and, as an unplanned bonus, reveal sensitive passwords and usernames from the Ministry of Defense.

The photos were quickly “amended and reissued” by the Ministry of Defense and all leaked passwords were changed, as a precaution.

“Due to an administrative oversight, these photographs were not properly cleared at RAF Valley and the images showed unclassified MoD user names, passwords and computer screens on a restricted system,” a ministry spokesman said. “All the photos have been now amended and reissued.”

The usernames and passwords appeared to relate to websites that Sea Kings helicopter pilots use to calculate the amount of flight fuel need and also how to access the Civil Aviation Authority`s portal.

“The passwords and user names shown have now been reset as a precaution and we are satisfied the images do not contravene security regulations,” said a ministry spokesperson.

Although more photos were posted on Prince William`s website, the Ministry of Defense only removed four that were deemed as a high security risk. Media channels that used the compromising snapshots were contacted and asked to replace them with slightly blurred ones that covered the sensitive data.
