Google Ordered by Court to Assist Marvel`s Search for the Avengers Trailer Leaker
Google has been ordered by a US Court to help Marvel search for the individual who leaked the new Avengers: Age of Ultron movie trailer, according to a subpoena issued by the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
The Avengers trailer was leaked in late October – a week ahead of its original release schedule.

“Your are commanded to produce at the time, date, and place set forth below the following documents, electronically stored information, or objects, and to permit inspection, copying, testing, or sampling of the material,” the subpoena said.
Marvel also asked, but wasn’t granted, the permit to “entry onto the designated premises […] so that the requesting party may inspect, measure, survey, photograph, test, or sample the property or any designated object or operation on it.”
In other words, Google was told to provide any data that would help identify the user ‘Josh Gazelle’ who leaked the trailer.
The subpoena also obliged Google to turn over “the IP address from which the file named ‘ap-tlr-l_int_360p.mp4 and containing content known as Avengers: Age of Ultron was uploaded to the Google Drive Site.”
This leak caused significant damage to Marvel and its Avenger’s movie in terms of money and publicity. So far, media outlets alleged that the leaker is someone who works for Marvel.
