What to do when Bitdefender detected a clean file as infected?

There are cases when Bitdefender mistakenly flags a legitimate file as being a threat (a false positive). To correct this error, add the file to the Bitdefender Exclusions area:

    1. Turn off the Bitdefender real-time antivirus protection:

  •         Open the Bitdefender window.
  •         Click the Settings button on the upper toolbar.
  •         Click Antivirus on the left-side menu and then the Shield tab.
  •         Click the switch to turn off on-access scanning.

Display hidden objects in Windows. To find out how to do this, please refer to "How do I display hidden objects in Windows?".

    2. Restore the file from the Quarantine area:

  •         Open the Bitdefender window.
  •         Click the Settings button on the upper toolbar.
  •         Click Antivirus on the left-side menu and then the Quarantine tab.
  •         Select the file and click Restore.

Add the file to the Exclusions list. To find out how to do this, please refer to "How do I exclude a folder from being scanned?".

Turn on the Bitdefender real-time antivirus protection.

Contact our support representatives so that we may remove the detection signature. To find out how to do this, please refer to "Asking for help".
