Microsoft Exchange 2010 SP2 compatibility update (product update 3.5.17.5)

This product update resolves the incompatibility in between Bitdefender Security for Exchange and Microsoft Exchange 2010 SP2. This product update will not stop/start your traffic, and does NOT require a server restart.

Given the above, choose the situation that applies to you:

1. You currently have Exchange 2010 without SP2 installed together with Bitdefender Security for Exchange

  • You need to install the Bitdefender product updates and have version 3.5.17.5 installed, see here how to upgrade the Bitdefender Security for Windows Servers products.
  • Then you can install Service Pack 2 on your Microsoft Exchange server

Important: Make sure the Microsoft Exchange Transport Service is running (a service start may be required)

2. You currently have Exchange 2010 with SP2 installed and you need to install Bitdefender Security for Exchange

  • Install Bitdefender Security for Exchange from the Bitdefender Management Console or the stand alone kit
  • Install the product update 3.5.17.3 , 3.5.17.4 and 3.5.17.5 as described in this article

Important: Make sure the Microsoft Exchange Transport Service is running (a service start may be required)

3. You currently have Exchange 2010, upgraded to SP2 and already have Bitdefender Security for Exchange. In some cases you may receive the following error message:

"Microsoft Exchange could not start transport agents. The Microsoft Exchange Transport service is stopped. Exception Details: Failed to create the Type 'Bitdefender.NetProtect.Edge2010AgentFactory'”

In order to resolve the above error message you will need to:

  • Install the latest product update version 3.5.17.5

Important: Make sure that Microsoft Exchange Transport Service is started after the upgrade process is finished.
