1.       How do I access Parental Control?

Bitdefender enables you to control the access to the Internet and to specific applications for your children. At the same time, it allows you to monitor their Facebook account activity.

There are two ways you can access Parental Control settings from MyBitdefender account on any computer or mobile device connected to the Internet.

● From a computer:

1. Open a web browser.

2. Go to: https://my.bitdefender.com

3. Log in to your account using your user name and password.

4. Click Parental Control to access the dashboard.

● From a mobile device:

1. Tap the Parental Control icon in your device's application drawer to open the application interface.

2. Tap the menu key on your device while in the application's home screen.

3. Tap Go online.

4. Log in to your account using your user name and password.

2.       How do I add my child’s profile?

Before you configure Parental Control, create separate Windows user accounts for your children to use. This will allow you to know exactly what each of them is doing on the computer. You should create limited (standard) user accounts so that they cannot change the Parental Control settings.

To add your child's profile to Parental Control:

1. Open a web browser.

2. Go to: https://my.bitdefender.com

3. Log in to your account using your user name and password.

4. Access the Parental Control dashboard from your MyBitdefender account.

5. Click Add child on the left-side menu.

6. Enter the name, age and gender of your child in the corresponding fields. Setting the age of the child will automatically load settings considered appropriate for that age category, based on the child development standards.

7. You can see below the devices that are linked to your MyBitdefender account.

8. Select the device used by your child.

9. Click Create Profile.

The device of your child is now linked to the MyBitdefender account.

10. To install Parental Control on a new device, select the corresponding option.

11. Select the installation package for the PC (.exe) or the installation package for the mobile device (.apk).

3.       How do I install Parental Control on the PC?

To install Parental Control on your child's computer, follow these steps:

1. Double-click the installer file to launch the setup wizard and click Install.

2. The installation path is displayed in this window. Optionally, you can select a different path by clicking the Change button.

3. Click Install to begin the installation.

4. Link your device to your MyBitdefender account. If you do not have an account, choose to create a new account using the corresponding button.

4.       How do I install Parental Control on the Android device?

There are two ways to install Bitdefender Parental Control on a device:

From a computer:

1. Go to: https://my.bitdefender.com.

2. Log in to your account using your user name and password.

3. Click Parental Control to access the dashboard.

4. Click Add child on the left-side menu to create a new account.

5. After you configure the child’s profile click Install on new device.

6. FromInstall on new device window selectGoogle Play.

You will be guided to a web page from where you can download the product.

7.       Select Install.

8.       Select the device where you want to install the app.

9.       Go to the device where you have chosen to install the product.

10.   Tap the Parental Control icon in your device's application drawer to start the installation process.

From a mobile device:

1.       Access your Google Play account and search Bitdefender Parental Control.

2.       Tap Install in the Bitdefender Parental Control page.

3.       Tap Accept to allow the permissions required by Bitdefender to install its files.

Wait for the download process to finish.

4.       Tap Open to continue.

5.       Confirm that you are the legal owner of the device and accept the license agreement.

6.       Tap Next.

7.       To continue the installation process, you mustlink the device to a MyBitdefender account.

If you have a MyBitdefender account select I already have an account.

If you do not have an account, choose to create a new account using the corresponding button.

To link your device to a MyBitdefender account, follow these steps:

  1. Enter your MyBitdefender user name and password. Optionally, you may also enter a name for your device. If you link more than one device to your account, this will help you identify the devices more easily.
  2. Tap Link.
  3. You are prompted to select one of the configured Parental Control accounts.
  4. Tap Add new child in case you do not have configured any account.
  5. Tap Continue to finish the installation.

5.       How do I connect Parental Control with another MyBitdefender account?

There are two ways to unlink your device from the current MyBitdefender account:

● From a computer:

1. Right-click the Parental Control icon in the system tray and choose Registration.

2. Enter your MyBitdefender password and click Sign-out to unlink your account.

3. To use another MyBitdefender account, enter the user name and password in the corresponding fields.

● From a mobile device:

1. Tap the Parental Control icon in your device's application drawer to open the application interface.

2. Tap the menu key on your device while in the application's home screen.

3. Tap Sign-out.

4. Log in to the new account.

6.       How do I remove Parental Control from a PC?

From a computer:

1. To repair or remove Parental Control, follow the path from the Windows start menu: StartAll ProgramsParental ControlRepair or Remove.

2.  A new window will appear.

Select the action you want to perform:

● Repair - to re-install all program components.

● Remove - to remove all installed components.

7.       How do I remove Parental Control from an Android device?

There are two methods to remove Parental Control from a mobile device:

● First method:

1. Remove Parental Control from the Device Administrators:

a. Make sure your mobile device is connected to the Internet.

b. Access the Settings area on your mobile device.

c. Tap Security.

d. Access theDevice administrators area.

e. To remove Parental Control from the Device Administrators, enter the credentials of your MyBitdefender account and click Sign-out.

2. Remove Parental Control from your mobile device.

● Second method:

1. Tap the Parental Control icon in your device's application drawer to open the application interface.

2. Tap the menu key on your device while in the application's home screen.

3. Tap Sign-out.

4. Access the Settings area on your mobile device.

5. Tap Security.

6. Access Select device administrators.

7. Remove Parental Control from the Device Administrators.

8. Remove Parental Control from your mobile device.

8.       How do I restrict the Internet access for my child?

Once you have configured Parental Control, you can easily block Internet access for specific periods of time.

Bitdefender Parental Control enables you to control the Internet usage for your children even when you are not at home.

To restrict Internet access for certain times of day, follow these steps:

1. On any device with Internet access, open a web browser.

2. Go to: https://my.bitdefender.com.

3. Log in to your account using your user name and password.

4. Click Parental Control to access the dashboard.

5. Select your child's profile on the left-side menu.

6. Click on the Web panel to access the Web Activity window.

7. Click Schedule.

8. Select from the grid the time intervals during which Internet access is blocked.

You can click individual cells, or you can click and drag to cover longer periods.

To start a new selection, click Reset.

9. Click OK.

9.       How can I monitor my child’s Facebook account?

Parental Control monitors your child's Facebook account and reports the main activities taking place.

These online activities are verified and you are warned if they prove to be a threat for your account privacy.

To configure Facebook protection for a specific user account:

1. On any device with Internet access, open a web browser.

2. Go to: https://my.bitdefender.com.

3. Log in to your account using your user name and password.

4. Click Parental Control to access the dashboard.

5. Select your child's profile on the left-side menu.

6. Go to the Facebook tab.

7. Click Connect child's profile in the Facebook panel.

8. To protect the child's Facebook account, install the application using the corresponding link.

Note:

To install the application you will need the credentials of your child's Facebook profile.

To stop monitoring the Facebook account, use the Unlink account button from the top.

10.   How does the Location feature work?

Location allows you to view the device's current position on Google Maps using the GPS tracking system.

To access the Location tracking history you need to:

  1. Enable the GPS or Wi-Fi on the child’s device.
  2. Click on the Location panel to access the Location tracking history.
  3. The following dashboard appears with all the locations where the child was seen. The results are filtered by "Show only": Last Week, Last Month, Yesterday, Today.

11.   How can I configure e-mail notifications?

The parents can receive daily, weekly, or monthly activity reports regarding their kids’ online activities, including the websites they visited, what they searched for, who they chatted with, the SMS messages they received and the locations they visited.

To receive reports on your child's online activity, follow these steps:

1. On any device with Internet access, open a web browser.

2. Go to: https://my.bitdefender.com.

3. Log in to your account using your user name and password.

4. Click Parental Control to access the dashboard.

5. Select your child's profile on the left-side menu.

6. Click the General Settings icon on the top right corner.

7. Enter the e-mail address where the reports are to be sent.

8. Adjust the frequency by selecting: daily, weekly or monthly.

12. How do I update the Parental Control app on my child's device?

To configure the update frequency for the Parental Control product installed on the desktop, follow these steps:

1. On any device with Internet access, open a web browser.

2. Go to: https://my.bitdefender.com.

3. Log in to your account using your user name and password.

4. Click Parental Control to access the dashboard.

5. Select your child's profile on the left-side menu.

6. Click the General Settings icon on the top right corner.

7. Adjust the frequency by selecting: daily, weekly or monthly.

Note

On an Android device, Parental Control automatically checks for new updates. If an update is detected, you will be asked to download and install it.

13.   Is Bitdefender Parental Control compatible with other Bitdefender products?

Bitdefender Parental Control can work only with Bitdefender Antivirus Plus.

Bitdefender Internet Security and Bitdefender Total Security already have Parental Control integrated. Do not try to install Bitdefender Parental Control on the same computer with one of these two products because critical errors may occur.

14.   How can I block certain apps?

The Application control helps you block any application from running. Games, media and messaging software, as well as other categories of software and malware can be blocked this way.

To configure Application control for a specific user account, follow these steps:

1. On any device with Internet access, open a web browser.

2. Go to: https://my.bitdefender.com.

3. Log in to your account using your user name and password.

4. Click Parental Control to access the dashboard.

5. Select your child's profile on the left-side menu.

6. Go to the Applications tab.

7. Click on the Applications panel to access the Application Activity window.

8. Use the switch to turn on Application Activity.

9.  Click the Blacklist button.

10. To block an app, follow these steps:

 - in the Android device: from Allowed apps select the apps you want to block.

- in the Windows operating system: add the executable file of the application you want to block.

11.   Click Block to add the selected apps to the Blocked Apps list.

15.   How do I block or allow the access to a certain website?

Because you cannot monitor all your child’s online activities, Bitdefender Parental Control gives you the possibility to allow or block the access to different websites.

 To block accessto a website, follow these steps:

1. On any device with Internet access, open a web browser.

2. Go to: https://my.bitdefender.com.

3. Log in to your account using your user name and password.

4. Click Parental Control to access the dashboard.

5. Select your child's profile on the left-side menu.

6. Click on the Web panel to access the Web Activity window.

8. Use the switch to turn on Web Activity.

9. Click the Blacklist button.

10. Enter the website in the corresponding field and click Add.

11. Select from the grid the time intervals during which access is blocked.

     You can click individual cells, or you can click and drag to cover longer periods.

12.  Click Save and then click OK.

To allow accessto a blocked website, follow these steps:

1. On any device with Internet access, open a web browser.

6. Click on the Web panel to access the Web Activity window.
