Version 8: Taking another step
The 8th generation of BitDefender products launched
BitDefender CTO Bogdan Dumitru gave today the final go-ahead for the release of BitDefender 8 Professional Plus, a combined antivirus, antispam and firewall utility, tailored to meet the needs of home and corporate Internet users worldwide.
BitDefender 8 Standard, an antivirus software solution incorporating the same cutting-edge engines employed by BitDefender Professional Plus, but which is targeted at people who don't need or want the added protection of a firewall and an antispam solution, was also launched today. The double release will be followed in about a month▓s time by that of BitDefender 8 SpamDeny, a full-featured antispam package.
"This version evolved towards stability and completeness. Feature-wise, we had to deal with two major changes - integrating the antispam engines in the Professional Plus package and making sure that our products are fully compatible with WinXP SP2. Other than that, most improvements happened 'under the hood' so to speak. We took the time to sit down and refine all the functionality we've added over the years and streamline everything for speed and stability. I think the development team did a great job, and I can't wait to see how our clients are going to feel about the new products," Bogdan Dumitru stated.
BitDefender Professional Plus will include advanced functionality for safer websurfing, such as the Internet applications control, content, script and cookie controls. An additional feature of this release is the advanced antispam filter, which can be used directly from the Outlook toolbar.
