BitDefender for MS-DOS reaches end of life
Rightful heirs nominated
BitDefender Antivirus Free Edition for MS DOS will be discontinued on the 10th of June current, as the MS-DOS platform was judged obsolete. The aging product will be replaced in its rescue tool role by LinuxDefender, a bootable Linux CD distro, designed by BitDefender Labs to answer the need for a "clean" rescue environment and security toolset.
BitDefender Antivirus Free Edition for MS DOS users are advised to turn to BitDefender Free Edition for Windows, and BitDefender Linux Edition for free, fully supported antivirus software.
"We will continue to provide antivirus freeware, as long as there is a public need for such. We believe quality antivirus should be available to one and all, as this is the only way we know of to alleviate the virus menace and reduce the impact of future virus incidents on the network at large." declared Mircea Mitu, BitDefender Business Line Manager.
