BitDefender for Linux Mail Servers 1.6 released

BitDefender for Linux Mail Servers version 1.6 (Cherub) is out. This was supposed to be a revision, but has been promoted to minor version status due to extensive changes, like new drop and reject options for infected emails, full antivirus quarantine (including email headers), improved antispam technology including advanced heuristics, white list / black list, bayesian add-on and URL filter and a redesigned web-based management interface.

BitDefender for Linux Mail servers 1.6 is a RedHat Ready certified application. This means smooth integration with RedHat operating systems is guaranteed.

New functionality has been added, in the shape of a new module, called Watchdog, which is designed to provide fail-over capability in a flexible manner.

This version introduces the update pushing option. Customers that opt into this service will have the latest updates "pushed" to their servers the second they become available, instead of waiting for the scheduled update, further reducing the threat presented by new viruses.

Three new dedicated agents have also been added. They will provide integration into Courier, CommuniGate Pro and Sendmail Milter mail servers.

Mircea Mitu, BitDefender Business Line Manager for Linux products,
declared: "With the addition of the Watchdog and update pushing, we're one step closer to that double Holy Grail of computing: one hundred percent solution uptime with zero maintenance. I'm certain our customers will appreciate."
