Awards from both major independent testers propel Bitdefender to another year at the top

Bitdefender, creator of the world’s best antivirus software, won the Best Repair title from German security institute AV-TEST, clinching an award from the second of two major independent testing organizations in the first weeks of 2013.

The award, which reflects Bitdefender’s prowess in fighting malware infections already on a victim’s computer, follows the awarding of the Product of the Year title to Bitdefender two weeks ago by the other major analysis firm, AV-Comparatives.

The Best Repair 2012 statuette by AV-TEST honors Bitdefender Internet Security’s effectiveness in detecting, repairing and cleaning malware from an infected system. A main factor the security institute examined was the ability to detect hidden rootkits and remove malware that also alters the system.

"In some of our most exhaustive testing ever, Bitdefender proved to be the reigning antidote to infection,” said AV-TEST CEO Andreas Marx. “The company has done great things with its repair technologies. When your computer is infected, Bitdefender is the one to go to."

In November of last year, Bitdefender also made a stunning debut in AV-TEST trials with its 2013 security suites. Bitdefender Internet Security 2013 won the top place in the German institute’s testing, scoring 17 out of 18 possible points.

“Here in the Bitdefender Labs, we’re always looking out to develop daredevil technologies – the potentially disruptive innovations that keep us at the top of our industry,” said Viorel Canja, head of Bitdefender Labs. “This creative approach, and our emphasis on going the extra mile, has served us very well in recent years. So we're always pleased to hear of new awards, especially when they come from one of the most respected testing organizations in the industry.”
