Bitdefender Maintains World's Top Spot in February Independent Anti-Virus Testing
Bitdefender wins 5th straight round of AV-TEST evaluations
Bitdefender®, the award-winning provider of innovative antivirus solutions, was again declared the world’s reigning anti-virus champion after rigorous testing by AV-TEST on its Bitdefender Internet Security 2012 product.
Bitdefender won the highest score of all tested products, or 17 points, in the January and February round of testing by AV-TEST, the leading independent anti-virus testing organization. Bitdefender has now won five rounds of AV-TEST trials in a row, as well as the organization’s prestigious Best Protection 2011 Award.
“Bitdefender has hit a roll of innovation and dedication that is leading us further and further ahead of the pack in recent years,” said Viorel Canja, head of Bitdefender Labs. “We’re taking that lead and running with it. We’re confident our upcoming product releases are going to take us even further into the lead.”
Bitdefender scored best in “protection against 0-day malware attacks, detection of malware discovered in the last 2-3 months, and widespread and prevalent malware,” according to AV-TEST. Bitdefender was also top in “cleaning and repair of a malware-infected computer” and “detection of actively running widespread malware.”
Besides Bitdefender, AV-TEST evaluated other 22 home user security products using their default settings in January and February. Bitdefender was followed by second-place Kaspersky, with 16.5 points and Symantec’s Norton Internet Security, in third place with 15 points.
AV-TEST CEO Andreas Marx said: “It’s a consistently very well-performing product and the company well deserves the great reputation it has. It’s always a pleasure to test Bitdefender products and we’re looking forward to the new ones this year.”
AV-TEST Institute, based in Magdeburg, Germany, is a security software analysis firm recognized as an authority by Bitdefender and the entire industry.
