BitDefender▓s Top Ten E-Threats Reveal September Once Again Dominated by Trojans

Five out of ten e-threats in September were Trojans

The top three e-threats on BitDefender▓s Top Ten E-Threats for September are Trojans, which accounted for 25 percent of total infections in September. BitDefender▓s Top Ten E-Threats is a countdown of the month▓s most popular pieces of malware, detected by BitDefender researchers.

The top e-threat on BitDefender▓s Top Ten list for September is Trojan.Clicker, which is an infection tool used by malware developers who make racks, key generators, and keys for popular software. Trojan.Clicker made up 10.98 percent of infected files.

Second and third place on BitDefender▓s September list are the Wimad Trojan, a generic detection for Autorun-using Trojans, and the Clicker adware Trojan. The Wimad Trojan made up 9.58 percent of infections in September while the Clicker adware Trojan made up 5.52 percent of infections.

Conficker, detected by BitDefender as Win32.Worm.Downadup.Gen, takes the fourth spot on the list with nearly 5.5 percent of infected files detected during September.
