This operation consists basically of 2 phases:
Install the BitDefender Management server to the new machine. At this moment it will have no assigned policies and no clients.
Stop the BitDefender management Server service on the new machine
Stop the BitDefender management Server service on the old machine
Stop the SQL Server (INSTANCE_NAME) service (usually the instance name is BDMS or SQLEXPRESS) on both SQL Servers the BitDefender Management Servers (old ad new) connect to
Copy the serverdata folder from the old machine to the new machine. It can be found at the path below:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BitDefender\Enterprise 3\Server\serverdata
Copy the em3.mdf database and the em3_log.LDF files from the old SQL server to the new SQL server. Usually they can be found at the path below:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data
Start the SQL Server (INSTANCE_NAME) and BitDefender Management Server services on the new server, wait for 10 seconds and start the console, the policies should aready be in place.
Note: If the new server has a different IP then the old server please perform the steps below to have the clients pointed to the new server:
Start the SQL Server (INSTANCE_NAME) and BitDefender Management Server services on the old server, wait for 10 seconds and start the console
Assign all the clients a "BitDefender Enterprise Manager Agent Connection" policy to set the new Server Address.
Also, you might want to let the old server in place for a period of time as clients that are offline after you assign the policy above will need to synchronize once with the old server, otherwise they will still report to the old server after it has been demoted.
