BitDefender AntiSpam brings new solutions to old problem
BitDefender inaugurates today a new product line, with the launch of BitDefender AntiSpam 7 for Windows Workstations. BitDefender AntiSpam for Windows Workstations incorporates three different proprietary modules to keep your inbox spam-free: the Whitelist-blacklist, the heuristic filter and the Bayesian (learning) module.

BitDefender AntiSpam is designed to work with any mail program. Outlook and Outlook Express users will apreciate the neat toolbar that allows users to configure and train BitDefender AntiSpam directly from their mail client interface.
BitDefender AntiSpam for Windows Workstations uses a heuristic filter, to perform a set of tests on all the message components, (i.e. not only the header but also the message body in either HTML or text format), looking for words, phrases, links or other characteristics of spam.
In addition to that, users can train the Bayesian filter module, telling it which messages are spam and which aren't. The Bayesian filter then classifies messages by gathering statistical information regarding the rate at which specific words and structures appear in spam or in legitimate mail and comparing new messages with these patterns. A properly trained filter will catch close to 100% of the spam.
The last line of defense is the whitelist-blacklist module, used to block mail from known spammer domains and to accept any sort of mail from known legitimate addresses.
